Want to remember the horrible Disengagement this past summer? Remind a Leftist that there are still thousands of Gush Katif Jews without proper homes and jobs? Add these stamps to your envelopes. At least on these stamps, you know which side to spit on. Hat Tip: Arutz Sheva.
I take it that they won't be selling these stamps alongside the special Rabin stamps at the Post Office's throughout Israel?
ReplyDeleteHow much money went into making and producing these antagonistic little labels? There are starving children in this country! And last I checked, there are plenty of families uprooted from Gaza who could do with financial support...
ReplyDeleteJameel, if you stuck one of those on a letter to me, I'd probably find it mildly moving, but your average hardened/apathetic "Leftist" would at worst not pay any attention and at best snort and conclude that the "Orange" were even more irritating than previously perceived. Seriously, is that the kind of reaction the makers of the stamps and all their endorsers are looking for? Isn't it more important to try to bridge those gaps before it is too late, as opposed to devising provocative statements which will only divide our people further?
PP, whatever the cost, ti is for sure less than all the money spent o nthe Rabin stamps, rabin t0shirts, rabin coffee mugs, rabin...
ReplyDeletePurple Parrot: Thanks for your reply! According to the A7 report, these stamps are a private venture by an artist and is non-profit. (actually, I think the profits from the stamps DO go to Gush Katif homeless people).
ReplyDeleteDoes this help bridge the chasm in Israel today?
In order to receive forgiveness, you have to regret your actions first (Hilchot Teshuva, RAMBAM.)
By writing "Lo Nislach" - it obviously doesn't mean no forgiveness forever, but untill those who did this have remorse for their actions, there cannot be real bridge building.
I don't think that bridge building with those who have ZERO remorse for their actions is "Ahavat Chinam", but rather bad for self-esteem, and the embodiment of "Turn the Other Cheek" christian theology.
However, honest dialogue with bloggers like you is very worthwhile! Please continue to visit us and comment.

Jameel
Where can we get the stamps?
ReplyDeleteI have what to respond regarding forgiveness, remorse and judgement, but I'm not going to for the sake of blog-coexistence.
ReplyDeleteSheTihiyu Bri'im- Stick the stamps onto everything you see if it makes you feel better.
These stamps also work to 'stamp out' those who forget and forgive too quickly.-)
ReplyDeleteWell, aren't you all just delightful!
