Shabbat Shalom...

As usual, I'm grilling chicken and shnitzel before shabbat -- but was too busy to also blog something worthwhile. I will say that it will be a pleasure next week to offer my rebuttal XGH and Dovbear, for their reply postings to yesterday's "Passionate Yearning for Eretz Yisrael"...

A quiet and peaceful shabbat to all.

Wherever I am, my blog turns towards Eretz Yisrael

  3. Indeed. Shabbat Shalom.

    I like your blog. Found it via 'IsreallyCool' and followed the war via your blogging, in part.

    So why does an Aussie follow an Israeli blog? Because I believe you guys have right on your side. That you are our natural allies. That Israel is an isle of decency in an area where most states are totalitarian basket cases.

    Maybe also an appreciation that so much of our law and values owes it's origins to the Laws of Moses.

    Look and you will also find an Aussie connection, especially surprising as Israel could hardly be further away from us.

    There is the charge of the Light horse at Beersheba, c1917;

    Part of the 'Palestine' campaign which removed the area that was to become Israel from Ottoman to British control.

    And the Aussie 7th Division in the Syrian campaign (WW2);

    More recently the Aussie SAS troopers had a bit to do with hunting Scuds in the earlier (Kuwait/Gulf War) Iraq conflict;

    I also understand Israel has a liking for our eucalyptus trees;

    And we have had quite a few famous generals (eg John Monash) and Governor-Generals (Isaacs, Zelman Cohen) who also happened to be Jewish.

    We get editorials like this;

    Sydney apparently has 50,000 Jewish people, and 200,000 Lebanese Muslims. Guess who causes no problems vs who causes lots?

    So, yep, your blog, and your country, has some friends 'down under'.
