Peace Now...Jews Later.

The picture above displays the faces of 177 Jews murdered by Palestinian Terrorists after the terrorists were released by Israel.

Released as "gestures" for peace

Released as "gestures" for goodwill during Muslim holidays

Released as "gestures" to the United States, for political brownie points

And what did we get as a result? 177 more Jews were murdered.

The tough call is that kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Shalit is being held by Palestinian Authority Hamas terrorists, and they are demanding the release of over 1000 terrorists in Israel's jails.

Do we release these terrorists who will undoubtedly continue their attempts to kill us, to obtain the freedom of Gilad Shalit, the IDF soldier who was kidnapped outside of Palestinian-controlled Gaza?

The answer should be, a clear, resounding, "no."

Unfortunately, the Kadima, Labor and Meretz politicians of Israel will release these terrorists in the coming years if they are still in power. They will release these terrorists the same way they have always released terrorists for meaningless "peace" initiatives which have proven themselves as worthless gestures.

When one understands that these terrorists will be released anyway and they will continue to kill Jews, we might as well get Gilad Shalit back now.

It's a terrible situation, but we can count on Israel's Left to release these vermin later on down the road, so let's get Gilad in return.

The ALMAGOR - "Terror Victims Association" disagrees, because they don't want to see more Jews killed.

The problem is, they forget how pathetic Israel's leadership is.

And if we're talking about Israel's Leftwing; Peace Now "activists" arrived in Sderot to hand Defense Minister Amir Peretz a letter demanding that he order the immediate evacuation of settlers who legally purchased a home in Hevron.

They could have demanded that Peretz do something to stop the daily launching of Palestinian Qassam rockets from Gaza, but I guess they have much more important things to do.

So it's not just the Muqata which is upset at Peace Now; Sederot residents were furious at Peace Now...and they had to be restrained by the police.
The Sderot residents, for their part, said the arrival of the Peace Now activists to the city was an ‘act of hypocrisy.’

"Where were they when we suffered from the Qassam rockets?" said Alon Davidi, chairman of the Council for Sderot’s Security. "Our real enemy is in Gaza, not among the West Bank Jews."
Peace Now is still clueless as to who the enemy is.

  1. Has Peace Now ever had a clue?

As hard as this is to say (especially with little daughters who will be in the Army one day), I think we just have to say "NO" to any prisoner swap. Shalit must be released, because his kidnapping was an illegal act of terrorism. The palis in jail were caught committing those acts. There is no equivalence here.

Also, has anyone noticed that, since these prisoners have been in Israeli jails, that the pali terror groups have been much less effective?

    Coincidence? I don't think so...

  2. Yeah, the leftists never really care about the people they pretend to care about. Peace Now is all about vanity. "Look how peace-loving I am."

  3. This post is very poignant, but I'm not sure I know what you think you would do if you could make the decision. Are you just highlighting the conundrum, or are you also suggesting which answer you think is the response you'd give?

The conflict between the responses pretty much describes how I feel.

  4. "Peace Now is still clueless as to who the enemy is."

    How true. Sad, but true.

And good for the Sderot residents for fighting against this ridiculous hypocrisy- I'm seething, too, and I don't even live in Sderot.

  5. Jill: My heart and mind say never to release terrorists, even if it comes with awful consequences.

The problem is that Israeli politicians have routinely released terrorists for "nothing" tangible in return. It's even been proven that these terrorists will continue to kill us.

Since they will be released in the future anyway by our politicians, it doesn't make sense not to get IDF solider Shalit back now in return.

Shalit should be returned unconditionally, but Israel's government is so weak that they will exchange 1000 terrorists for him.

Just like they will continue to release terrorists in the future for..."peace"

  6. Smiling, yes, I understand your argument and agree with it. :)

What I'm asking is, ahem, if you don't mind me asking, what would you do? :) Release and get Shalit now, or...?

  7. Jill,
We need something entebee style zehu...

Shlomo engel has a great article on ynet: http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3385775,00.html

We in the west are the laughtingstock of the world, look at the 15 british sailers and the pansy kid crying how they dared take his ipod!! (can you believe the kid's patheticness?)

The world was so in awe as israeli troops stormed in and captured ze'evi's killers, and olmert just might release the same murderers..

  8. I agree with Jill- I'd also like to know what you would do. It's very easy to lambast at length (especially when it comes to Peace Now- and yes, i did just write that) but your post and your commenters are similarly claiming the high ground vis a vis how to solve the conflict. So nu... what's the answer?

  9. Jill and TAFKAPP:

I would not negotiate with terrorists. Fullstop. If anything, a rescue mission (even with casualties) is worthwhile over negotiations and terrorist release.

Proof positive: Terrorists released by Israel come back to kill us by the dozens. Operations to recuse hostages and refusal to negotiate will not give the terrorists any hope of releasing their comrades.

Negotiations of this sort have never led to anything good for us.

The IDF and the State of Israel have been losing their edge over the years as we are seen as capitulating to terror time after time; proving that crime and terror pay.

While I disagree with Netanyahu on many issues, when he was asked, "If your son was Gilad Shalit, and you were Prime Minister, what would you do...?"

His answer: "I would give the decision to someone else to make, since I would be too personally involved."

    I agree.

It's not just an issue of the moral highground, and the proof of my convictions is not just on my blog, but in real life.

As a volunteer of our local settlement IDF counter terror unit, I choose to engage terrorists who are killing us, rather than attempt to negotiate. (as per IDF protocol).

I could stay at home, lock the door, and hope they go away...but that doesn't really help the situation, does it?

  10. I see what you mean, Jameel, but giving in to kidnappers' demands to free hostages is a sure fire way to make sure there will be more hostages.

as per the netanyahu story you quoted above, i'm sure you've heard the (apocryphal?) story about golda meir's response to a similar question.
