Every day in Budapest has been a world full of blogworthiness, complete with imagery and experience that has burned itself into my being.
Yet, with all the pictures and thoughts I wish to blog, it's impossible not to post the Pulitzer Prize Winning Photo for 2007.
I blogged about Amona as it was happening here and here...and while I have so much to write about Amona and this picture, the post from Rafi G. sums up how Amona happened to being with.
More to come this evening.

Awarded to Oded Balilty of The Associated Press for his powerful photograph of a lone Jewish woman defying Israeli security forces as they remove illegal settlers in the West Bank.

PM Ehud Olmert said, "I am indestructible. I have been here for 35 years and I have survived everything."
More to come this evening.

Wherever I am, my blog turns towards Eretz Yisrael
Great shot. I posted some after the fact pics of my visit to Amona in March 2006 here:

Davida vs Goliath.
ReplyDeleteWOW. What a quote! I can't believe he actually said that.
ReplyDeleteIt's reminiscent of the famous boast from the captain of the Titanic: "This ship is unsinkable. God Himself couldn't sink it."
The only difference is that the captain of the Titanic never actually said any such thing; it's just an urban legend. There are very few people who are stupid and vain enough to make such a bombastically arrogant statement. But our PM is one of the few...
I'm glad he's saying things like this. It means that when he finally goes down, the thud and splat will be that much louder.
Anyone know who the brave young girl is and what if anything happened to her?
ReplyDeletehink she is dany cohen (chabad shliach in chevron) sister but i'm not sure..
ReplyDeleteOded is a great guy and deserves the award!

ReplyDeleteAll that is known, or at least reported to be known, is that the girl's name is Nili, and that she lives in Yerushalayim.
ReplyDeleteI would not be surprised if she, indeed, is a chabadnik.
She's declined to be interviewed, says that she was "only doing the will of Hashem", and that she'd do it again if "HaKadosh Baruch Hu so wills it". She asks for no honors, just for people to support the cause.
IMHO she deserves a medal.
