Despite it all: Aliyah from North America will be Unprecedented!
Despite the appearance of headline-grabbing, post-Zionist, and party hack politicians -- a specially chartered El-Al flight carrying 220 new immigrants from North America landed Tuesday morning in Tel Aviv.
Israel has it's share of problems; A lion's share of corrupt politicians and convicted (or under investigation) criminals make up Israel's government.
Yet, despite it all, Jews from North America are proudly moving to Israel, to make a difference.
Upbeat articles by the JPost and YNET. Haaretz, dour as usual, has this instead.

May yesterday's new immigrants have an easy and successful integration into life here, and help strengthen our country spiritually and physically.
Eretz Yisrael welcomes it's children back home!
Welcome Home.
Wherever I am, my blog turns towards Eretz Yisrael
Hopefully, in 10 years time, I'll be there. I already have a town picked out.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteTake a look at this blog:

Nefesh b'Nefesh is, lulei demistafina, a fantastic project and it is truly amazing how many people continue to pick up and make aliyah. They - not the flag wavers or paraders or even the orange shirt wearers - are the true Zionists. Yiyasher kocham!
ReplyDeleteAnd kudos to you for spreading this wonderful news!
Hey, two and half years ago, that was me getting off the plane!
ReplyDeleteI'd've kissed the tarmac like the guy in the second pic from the bottom, but I was busy shlepping the carry-ons...
Thanks for posting this, Jameel. Aside from bringing back memories, it's just plain great news, and there's not enough of that these days.
Am Yisrael Chai!
kein yirbu!
ReplyDeleteVeshavu banim legevulam.
Interesting to note that Arutz7 is the only one of the major English Israel news sites to provide coverage of the Nefesh B'Nefesh flights.
ReplyDelete220/6+,000,000 is a little thin, but at least Tzipi showed up to say 'howdy' to the olim hadashim. Can you imagine if all 6+,000,000 American Jews would all make aliyah
ReplyDeletein mass? I can imagine the Sachnut responding with apoplexy - quick, quick, let's build a settlement town.
When I visited Israel in the mid '80's no one showed up to greet me (why should anyone have?), but there was that one guy in a uniform who hefted my suitcase and told me I could proceed out of the airport - how's that for high tech security?
:)
ReplyDeletei received no help at all with the process - but it was fun..
