Special Israel 60th Birthday Junk Food Edition

Hey. You got your peanut butter in my chocolate. No, YOU got your chocolate in my peanut butter.

Reese's Peanut Butter Cups?

Guess again. In honor of Israel's 60th birthday next week, Osem is creating a new version of the Israeli Classic Bamba Junk Food -- Bamba with creamy chocolate nougat inside.

Sorry people, it sounds totally gross.

Wherever I am, my blog turns towards Eretz Yisrael טובה הארץ מאד מאד

  1. There is no way to improve Bamba--it will always be gross.

  2. Bamba was definitely not the reason I made Aliya and will not be included in my "Sixty Reasons I love living in Israel, coming up on Yom Ha'atzmaut".

Ahh, but how I love Reeses Pieces! You can get them at mega for about 10 shekel.

  3. I hate the greasy film that Bamba leaves on a kid's hands and mouth. This gross creation muust leave them even stickier.

  4. Just because Bamba is basically peanut-butter infused styrofoam packing peanuts, doesn't meant that...oh wait, never mind.

I still like them somewhat. I would LOVE to try this special edition!

  5. ha! I saw this at the super an hour ago. I had a small bag in my cart, but then put it back. Couldn't bring myself to get it.

I'm a big fan of regular bamba though.

  6. i love bamba. there's something particularly satisfying about it. And no, it's not just a pregnancy thing.

I find it hysterical that they sell it in health food stores in America, like it's a healthy snack. :D

  7. did i miss the full disclosure 'actualy eatind anything to do with peanuts will kill me so i may be biased here' ?
peanut butter and choclate is a great combination but im afraid the texture the corn adds might ruin it. used to love bamba til i had kids.
i would describe bamba residue (a term i think i mightve just coined?) as being crumby and greasy but not necessarily sticky.
    happy 60th

  8. Silly Americans,
Bamba is the best snack food there is. It's light, it's fluffy and it's peanut buttery. Can't get better than that. Wise potato chips don't even come in a close 2nd.

  11. bamba is strangely addictive.

sometimes (really more rarely than sometimes!) when i'm feeling particularly reckless, i make my kids the israeli equivalent of a fluffernutter for a snack -- chocolate spread and peanut butter. i call it a reeses sandwich!

No Faith, you didn't miss it. But yes, you're right, I'm totally biased and the stuff will kill me in under a minute.
