I don't know about the rest of you, but forget advertising, I don't like seeing S'rugim spoilers open in front of me when I visit.
The solution is quite simple and you can learn all about it in the text between the brackets.
[
Dear Fellow Posters, Change the text of your spoiler to white, and on most browsers it will disappear, and can only be seen if you block it off like you are probably doing right now.
Thank you.

Wherever I am, my blog turns towards Eretz Yisrael טובה הארץ מאד מאד
Huh?
ReplyDeleteJoe's suggestion in the brackets was the highlight [wink, nudge] of my day!
ReplyDeleteTee hee ... very creative.
ReplyDeleteQuestion: Is the show available with subtitles (English, that is) anywhere ...?
well, you'll have to take it up with the intrepid captain of this ship. He thought it was a good idea, but if pple don't like it, I guess we can skip these synopses.
ReplyDeleteAlthough honestly, reading plot points bears little relation to actually watching the show, so i never understand why pple get worked up by spoilers.
"spoilers" -- it's a personality thing. Some people don't care. Some do.
ReplyDelete"spoiler alerts" give people who do care, the option of not seeing something they don't want to see...yet.
Some things I don't mind knowing about before I watch; other things I want to watch for the first time without knowing "the future."
Personally, I am less into the synopsis thing than the analytical thing, but that's 'cause I watch the show. I suppose, for someone who is not watching the show, it does provide the opportunity to know what is going on.
Of course, it's also good for later on, when you try to remember what was in a particular show and can't.... (it's quicker to review a synopsis, then rewatch the entire episode)
Joe -- are you suggesting that every post containing spoilers be done in "invisible ink"? That's a bit much, I think.
ReplyDeleteI think it's sufficient to have a spoilers warning at the top, and then a page to scroll down before the spoilers begin. Or better yet, make these the kind of posts you see on some blogs, where only the first few lines appear, and you have to click on a link to see rest of it. (I know there's a name for that, but I forgot it.) Of course, the poster would need to how to do that...
