And this is a bad thing?

So, there is an Arab-owned, non Kosher restaurant in Haifa that refuses to serve IDF soldiers.

As far as I can see, this is a good thing. Why should our IDF soldiers need to eat in non-Kosher restaurants?

And why is anyone expecting any different kind of treatment from an Arab in Haifa? Do they imagine he's loyal to the Jewish State of Israel, is proud of our IDF soldiers, and feels emotion when he sings Hatikva?

UPDATE: Bombing in Kiryat Ata (near Haifa). 1 dead. 10 injured. Details to follow on Muqata twitter feed.

  1. Are you kidding me? You think its okay for any public business to disallow someone from entering based on what they are wearing? Can you imagine the uproar if a Jewish restaurant did not allow a Muslim inside?
As for keeping kosher is a personal choice, as it should be. Or are you going to advocate for the women soldiers to wear skirts and wigs and the men kippot by law?

  2. Why do you assume that all soldiers keep kosher. That's far far far from reality.

Please try, for once, not to assume that your POV belongs to everyone on the planet.

  3. Every government official when working in official capacity, particularly when overseas is only allowed to eat in kosher restaurants. That's Israeli law - they are representing the Jewish people.

Perhaps soldiers in uniform should be under the secular ruling - particularly in Israel?

I never quite understood that. Surely I as a business owner have the right to choose whith whom to do business. Granted government agencies should not discriminate but why may a private individule not be able to choose not to do business with blacks or Jews. As abhorent as I might find it, I would defend their right to do so.

  9. Commenter Abbi: Settler Jews aren't allowed to give mishloach manos to IDF soldiers because the IDF is afraid the settlers will poison them.

It makes sense that IDF soldiers shouldn't even be allowed to eat at that restaurant, because maybe the Ajamites (who call themselves Palestinians and not Israeli Arabs) will try to poison the IDF soldiers.

Whats bad for the goose is bad for the gander.
