When housing plans have passed a municipal planning milestone in Jerusalem, Obama's furious, Hillary Clinton burns off Netanyahu's ear, and our ambassador to the US, Michael Oren gets called in for a tongue-lashing.
Rumor has it that Obama has barred US Administration officials from attending any Pesach Seder this coming year because of the "unhelpful" and "counterproductive" text of the Hagadda, "This coming year in a rebuilt Jerusalem"
Its so much more fun and easy for the world to criticize Israel, than to publicly criticize the Palestinians.
Why say anything about this?
March 11, 1978 is the date of the worst terror attack in Israel's history, when 37 people were murdered in a bus hijacking known as the "Coastal Road Massacre". Palestinian Authority TV opened its broadcasting last week on the 32nd anniversary of the terror attack praising it as:
"A glorious chapter in the history of the Palestinian people... [near Tel Aviv] in the heart of the occupation state. The operation shocked the occupation entity."
PA TV's praise of the attack was part of the introduction to an interview with Rashida Mughrabi, sister of terrorist Dalal Mughrabi who commanded the attack. She also praised the attack and called for further terror against Israel, who she referred to as "the Zionist enemy":
"This is a day of glory and pride for our Palestinian people and a blow to the Zionists... we must unite, and our rifles must unite, against the enemy who steals our land."
Or howabout the Jerusalem Post's latest scoop?
PA takes whistle-blower’s Jericho house
Fahmi Shabaneh exposed scandals that have seriously embarrassed PA leadership. Its so much more fun for the US Administration to publicly humiliate Israel for such atrocities as defending themselves or building in their capital city.
Palestinian Authority security personnel over the weekend seized a house belonging to Fahmi Shabaneh, the former Palestinian intelligence official who exposed a series of scandals that have seriously embarrassed the PA leadership.
Shabaneh told The Jerusalem Post that the security forces raided his house in Jericho, destroyed furniture, knocked down walls and confiscated equipment and personal items.
Challenge the Palestinian Authority on serious issues? What fun is there in that.

Are you for real about the Obama rumor? or is that satire?
ReplyDeleteAbbi: That's satire (for the time being anyway)...everything else in the post is true...
ReplyDeleteWhat makes it depressing is how believable it is!
:-/
Its even more of a shame that Israeli's and other jews dont believe that we have the right to be in Jerusalem or Israel at all -
ReplyDeletemy recommendation to them - Go and live in Saudi Arabia.
Obama actually think that this kind of tactic is speeding the peace process along, crazily enough! He actually believe that by berating Israel and trying to browbeat Israel into giving into the PA's every whim and not forcing the PA on any issue, the PA will see that they're finally getting what they want and sign a deal. Instead, Obama's pushed back the peace process to pre-Oslo days!
ReplyDeleteWe're back to mediated instead of direct talks??? Way to push that peace process forward, Barry! The last time that happened was 1992! Now, Obama is giving the PA hope that parts of Jerusalem that have never been on the table before and always understood that Israel had the right to construct in them are now on the table and are a STARTING point for negotiations.
My number 1 question is how is possible that Obama still thinks that this tactic is working or will work? I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone here. It's one thing to push the limits of any previous president for the past 4 terms, but he's starting to go into the most extreme outer limits since good ole' Jimmy.
I know this long, but I have to vent this through. In my mind, Bibi's next move will be the most important of his premiership and the rest of his political career. I don't believe that he has the cajones to stand up to the U.S. and say, "We have every right to build in any part of Jerusalem. It is part of the eternal capital of Israel and has been accepted as such in any and all peace agreements and precedents signed since Oslo." However, if he even remotely signs like he's apologizing or putting parts of Jerusalem on the table for a future building freeze, that's it. I think the government will fall. He won't be able to justify something like that.
In terms of Obama, when even left-wing journalists, who use every opportunity to criticize Israel, are calling him out as being extreme and going to far in their demands and criticisms of Israel, you know something's gone wrong in your strategy.
And I totally agree with you. When Biden comes out and criticizes Israel for 1,600 units in a densely populated Jewish neighborhood and then does NOT go on to strongly criticize Abbas for ever planning - even though he canceled it - on naming a public square after a butcher like Mugrahbi. He didn't say a word, so I can't taken him seriously. Given that the statement of criticism came from White House letterhead, it's safe to assume this statement came all the way from the top of the food chain. It's ridiculous, and it makes me want to shut off the news until Obama leaves office. With this act, he's guaranteed that a peace deal will never get done while he's in office.
Next on Obama's list: Criticizing Israel for allowing a synagogue to be rebuilt that was destroyed by the Jordanians. Expect that headline on Tuesday. If Netanyahu comes out and also criticizes it in any way in his video address, he will also suffer severely. G-d, I'm so disgusted by this whole thing!!
Sorry this was so long, but the frustrations was too much not to vent.

ReplyDeleteSince they assumed that the announcement of the 1600 housing units came from the top of the chain, this would be a valid assumption too.
All these stupid games. You don't trust us, but need us. We don't trust you...but we don't need you! We need Hashem only! Go ahead and abandon ship if you feel its in your country's best interest, we'll see how that works out for you.
I don't really see what you're getting at. The official statement from the Vice President came from Presidential letterhead, not the Vice President's office.
ReplyDeleteThe announcement of the building units came from the housing sub-committee in Jerusalem. There's no logical assumption there that the allowance came from the top since housing approvals don't come from Netanyahu's office.
Even if it did come from the top, Netanyahu has never lied or made any misleading statements that building in Jerusalem would go on as scheduled. He made this clear when he announced the 10 month building freeze, and the State Department applauded the decision twice, knowing full well that building would continue in Eastern Jerusalem. Now, they're pissed? Hypocritical much?
I don't really understand what your last statement is supposed to mean. Who's abandoning what ship?
