Wherever I am, my blog turns towards Eretz Yisrael טובה הארץ מאד מאד
Major news item for me is that passing of the Rav Mordechai Eliyahu zal.
ReplyDeleteIs it the type of thing you would discuss here?
Well I suppose so, to a certain extent. Maybe the sons of the blog writers even were at the funeral
"the sons of the blog writers" ?? take it off topic and still a backhanded compliment, eh?
ReplyDeletemaybe someone (or someone's son) who went, wants to post what about the levaya they found inspiring, or an unusual thing they learned about Rav Eliyahu.
I was at the levaya last night. I can't say I found anything especially inspiring (I didn't go to get inspired, I went to give kavod to a Torah giant), though there was something very special about answering kaddish and the 13 middot shel rachamim together with tens of thousands of Jews.
ReplyDeleteIf you want read something fascinating (but "spooky") about Rav Mordechai Eliyahu, read this article about the reburial of the Chid"a - http://www.communitym.com/article.asp?article_id=100755&article_type=0
what no post?!

I twittered Tali Fahita. It's open Mike today. write a comment.
ReplyDeleteA quiet news day in Israel?? It can't be.
ReplyDeleteHow about some comments on the impact of social media on world opinion of the Flotilla deaths. It seems to me that this is the first individual event in which social media made a big stand in Israel's favor on the World stage. Without it I don't know if we would be seeing 49% of Americans in support of Israel as was reported by jpost at http://www.jpost.com/International/Article.aspx?id=177905.
ReplyDeleteThe Cast Lead operation also benefited from social media but that was a much longer engagement.
Open Mike Tuesday is over, but what you wrote is definitely true.
ReplyDeleteWhile Israel was slow in releasing facts and videos, the positive use of social media directly put the facts right on peoples laptops and made up for the delay.
But the next battle is the one coming up. There will be attempts to legitimize and whitewash Hamas. And there will be attempts to further delegitimize Israel's right to self-defense vis a vis the blockade, instead of trying to oust the Hamas genocidal Iranian-proxy government.
