Wherever I am, my blog turns towards Eretz Yisrael טובה הארץ מאד מאד
two problems that i have with the vid
ReplyDeletethey keep using the edited ship to ship broadcasts...its a mistake and just gives aholes like blumenthal more grist for his mill
why is there no vid from any of the other ships?
i think its important to show the world that the commandos did not intend to injure or kill anyone
that is clear by the lack of serious injury on the other 5 ships
so show that
Terrible, terrible film which will achieve nothing.
ReplyDeleteFirstly the timeline in the film is not clear. If we are trying to claim that the commandos boarding the ship were basically ambushed in an organised and prepared way, these preparations must be shown in the correct order not tacked on the end of the film. We have plenty of footage from the ship's cctv and the passenger's films, these are key to any Israeli justification for the use of force and illustrate how a significant number of people of people on the Mavi Marmara were not simple aid workers. This footage must be shown chronologically, up front and centre, but instead it's tacked on the end.
Secondly, why is there no mention of the lack of actual aid on the Mavi Marmara, and the fact that all aid (that was in date etc.) was passed on. Again this would show that the provision of aid to Gaza was not the intention of the IHH.
Thirdly, the music is crap. It's cheap and makes the film seem like it was done by a 15 year old for a school project. 'What really happened on the Mavi Marmara' should be a tight organised argument. There is no need at all for any music, let alone such cheap melodramatic dross.
Fourth, I can't be bothered to write any more. Suffice to say, the video is terribly poor and serves no useful purpose. Seriously, have any of the film's producer's paid any attention to criticisms raised against the operation outside of Israel? Regardless of the rightness or wrongness of any particular claim made by critics of the operation, they are still the questions that must be dealt with. Something this film fails to do.
Shabbat shalom.
Yellow Boy
i cant believe how much of this footage wasnt released until now. are they insane???
ReplyDeleteWhat exactly are you referring to below when you write "parts of pre-1967 Israel alongside the Gaza strip". I thought there was a complete withdrawl from Gaza.
ReplyDeleteThe "Referendum Law" states that should the Israeli government approve a withdrawal from territory under full Israeli sovereignty (i.e., the Golan Heights, Eastern Jerusalem, parts of pre-1967 Israel alongside the Gaza strip, but not Yehuda vShomron/West Bank)
I have to admit that I agree with just about everything that Yellow Boy said about the film. The music in particular made me cringe.
ReplyDeleteIn terms of hasbara, the Latma "We Con the World" video is about 1000 times more effective than this one...
