Israel's "Best Friend" Provided Safe Haven to Nazis

As Israel is pressured by its best friend to relinquish sovereignty over its capital city of Jerusalem and the West Bank, sordid details are emerging of how the US provided safe haven for Nazis.
The 600-page report, written in 2006 and which the US Justice Department has tried to keep secret ever since, describes what it calls Washington's "collaboration with persecutors".

Agents from the Justice Department's Nazi-hunting Office of Special Investigations (OSI) found that war criminals "were indeed knowingly granted entry" to the US, even though government officials were aware of their pasts, the report concluded.

"America, which prided itself on being a safe haven for the persecuted, became – in some small measure – a safe haven for persecutors as well."
Read it all at the Daily Telegraph.

Remember, countries don't have friends they have "interests"...and the interest of any country, including democracies, can change based on new administrations.

Maybe Palestinian terrorists will be given "safe haven" in the US as well?

Just a thought.

  1. Having not read the full 600 page report referred to in the article I would just say we should be very careful when judging with the hind-sight of 60 years. Yes all countries (and people) have "interests", including Israel during that time. Geopolitics is a very strange and complicated affair. Naively we all would like to believe that everything can be broken down to good vs. evil. But the world just doesn't work that way. Who your enemy is can be very relativistic.

And before you judge the US too harshly please don't forget the nearly half million soldiers that died in helping to stop the Nazis.

  5. Halevai the Palestinians will have to run to the US. Meir Kahane always said that he was quite happy seeing Arabs in the US.

  6. Menachem: I didn't read the full 600 page report either, just the newspaper article.

Obviously all countries have interests, including Israel/the Jewish Agency (which also allegedly refused to help Jews during the holocaust), or the Labor party's forefathers, like Yitzchak Rabin, who shot up the Altelena, intentionally killing unarmed people swimming to shore.

I'm not "blaming" the United States as a whole, but pointing out while the US says they are a great friend to Israel, ultimately, the USA's actions and policies serve US interests, which are not [always] the same as Israel's.

The current US administration seems to have less commonality with Israel's policies than the previous one.

  7. "Seems to have less commonality" ???
You're being pretty kind to these people, from Obama on down, who philosophically support the Palestinian Arab cause 100%. They have said more than enough in public to prove this.

  9. What and where is the "West Bank"? The west bank of the Charles River, or the Mississipi or the Danube"

Except for the invention of the left-wing newspapers and the CIA fact book, I thought that there is no entity called only a "West Bank"?

Perhaps you are referring to the west bank of the Jordan River and adjacent lands within xx kilometers? Shouldn't be capitalized then.

    Let's review, shall we?

In the 1940's and 50's, the US worked with the German nazi war criminals.

In the 1990's-2010's the US worked with the PLO terrorist nazis.

Only difference is, now the US regime has help from the Israeli regime, who also works together with the PLO arab/muslim nazis.

So what surprise is there except the utter astonishment and frustration with a regime that calls itself "Israeli?" America is only continuing the same policy it's always had. Self-interest. But the Israeli regime's self-interest is obviously not the Jewish self-interest. And that's the real problem.
