I'm actually at a loss here...
on the one hand, it makes fun of the "real" signs.
On the other hand, if I saw a sign like that, I'd be sure to put on an extra layer or three, and wipe the slime off afterward...
It's almost as good as one of my favorite movie scenes. The one in Blazing Saddles where they slow down the bad guys by setting up a toll booth.
Now that would be something, inspectors at the corner not letting the men in.
LOL!!
Great sign! We could use it here in Beit Shemesh. You think they copyrighted it?
can i post the pic on facebook? i'll link back to your blog post.
What does "Targishu" really mean?
After reading the first line I expected it to say and the women can take the next side street. I'm glad to read there isn't a trend of making streets male zone's only (although I wouldnt have been surprised given that it does come up now and then).
That first sign pretty much describes my entire philosophy.
Fern: Feel free to put on facebook ;)
(you have my automatic blessing for ANYTHING you wish to post/link...)
Leaning Hebrew: It means "Feel" (as I translated it...)
Those signs are actually the milder ones. There are other signs that say things like "Please do not arouse our bad feelings by passing through our neighborhood in immodest dress." Translation (in my mind, at least): do as we say or we'll beat you up.
It's not about modesty. It's about power and control.

Feel as in texture/touching, or feel as in desire/emotions?
hard to believe that Hebrew has the same homonym like that.
Its confusing my semi-lingual brain.
Haha! I love that! Where did you see that sign? I haven't seen it.
