Palestinian terrorist approached an IDF checkpoint earlier today near Mevo Dotan with his donkey.
He yelled Allahu Akbar, pulled out an AK-47 and started shooting.
For some reason the IDF then fired warning shots in the air, and only then fired to kill the terrorist.
The IDF unit that neutralized the terrorist was the 97th Battalion (Menashe Regional Brigade).
Unconfirmed sources link this terrorist to another attack based on his family name, but no confirmation of this has been made possible yet.

Friends of mine in the unit are reporting on Facebook that the terrorist was not wielding an AK-47 or some such weapon, but rather a sort of home-made gun.
ReplyDeleteMaybe that would be the reason for the hesitation...
I was in a briefing with Major Itamar Ashkenazi and when asked about the gun he specifically said a Kalashnikov / AK-47.
ReplyDeleteHe said the terrorist explicitely fired first at them, while yelling Alahu Akbar.
But I hear from some of our readers that you can't trust the IOF to tell the truth about the innocent Arabs they randomly kill and maim for sport.
Terrible. The man was probably just taking his pet AK-47 for a walk, and then test firing a little. And the IDF just ended the poor innocent man's life! It's apartheid!
ReplyDeleteI posted a photo of the rifle.
ReplyDeletewhat happened to the donkey??? wouldn't that be the most important part of this news item?
ReplyDeleteIt appears to be a variant of the PPS, adapted to use an UZI mag. A better picture would help. Definitely not an AK47. The weapon is chambered for pistol rounds, so it's a submachine gun.
ReplyDeletego teisha sheva ;) my unit, Netzach, u might mention.
ReplyDeleteGo Kovi.
ReplyDeleteUpdate:
ReplyDeleteSalem Mohammad Sami Samoudi, who opened fire at an IDF post near Mevo Dotan Thursday, is a recognized Palestinian Islamic Jihad operative. He has been arrested by the IDF twice in the past for his involvement in
terrorist activities.
Khaldoun Majed Ahmed Samoudi, who was killed two weeks ago while attempting to execute a terror attack at the "Bekaot" crossing on January 8th, is also recognized with the same terrorist organization.
