After the torture and murder of 13 year old Hamza al-Khatib, does Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama really believe that the Syrian government can reform - or even deserves the chance to "try"?
To quote PM Netanyahu, Israel is not what is wrong about the Middle East. Israel is what is right about the Middle East.
The people of Syria also deserve freedom from the tyranny of the Assad dictatorship - and hopefully they will build a true democracy (even if Egypt does not appear to be heading that way).

I hate to be the one to say this but it's possible that Hamza-al-Khatib was not "tortured and murdered."

I realize that Syria is definitely shooting its protesting civilians, an act to be deplored, but as a reader I prefer facts first.
Ahh. So he's saying the Syrian government only shot the 13 year old boy multiple times. Held on to his body for a month in unrefrigerated conditions so the body deteriorated, and only then returned the body to his parents who didn't know where their child was for a month.
ReplyDeleteThat makes it all clear now.
Joe - you should be honored. The Syrian regime reads your blog and deemed it important enough to try to work their damage control on it.
ReplyDeleteI'm commenting anonymously so they don't go after me next.
Viva la revolution.
And how many more people are missing in Syria, kidnapped by the unreformable Syrian government, and their families have no idea where they are?
ReplyDeleteWas the earlier commenter an apologist or a propagandist?
The earlier poster was neither an apologist nor a propagandist. I have no love of the Syrian government, however, shooting into a crowd of people does not a child torturer make.
ReplyDeleteAnd nobody outside of Israel/Jewish world cares a hang for Netanyahu or his snappy lines. That ill-thought speech is only going to continue to backfire...
ReplyDeleteThe Syrian government employed doctor says the boy in his picture he talking about is 20 years old, not 13!
ReplyDeleteIt would seem that this doctor is talking about an additional person the Syrian government murdered and not Hamza.
The doctor says the government let the body rot for a month. He also says the boy was alive right after he was shot a few times. Financial Times says the boy was teken into custody and then shot.
ReplyDeleteThis doesn't look good for your case.
While it's easy to tell from the comments who is taking which side, can everyone use something other than anonymous.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous:1:46, 9:11, 11:41: You can use the name: "Syrian Government Shill".
Everyone else, come up with something unique.
Why, exactly? So you can demonize us as you see fit?

I don't need to demonize the Syrian government, your actions speak for themselves.
ReplyDeleteI can only hope that the brave Syrian people can overthrow your tyrannical government and create a peaceful, free democracy - one like the Arabs in Israel enjoy.
