After my interesting post on rainbows from last week, I was sent the following links to another fascinating phenomena: Lunar Rainbows (also known as moon bows)
This one was photographed on November 2, 2009 in Yorkshire, UK, by Christopher Walker. (What is it about England and rainbows? Is it that G-d is sending England a message...or is it just the abundance of rain?)
There's a whole explanation of the science here and on rainbows in general.
These rainbows appear at night, and aren't seen by anyone unless there is a powerful light source, like a full moon. If there isn't a light source, is there still a moonbow, yet non-visible? Does it need an observer to exist? Perhaps it only exists when observed...

Keep up the rainbow posts! Magnificent pics. Prompted me to notice the sky today. Dark clouds came in, but suddenly there was a pink aura, and then a fat rainbow!
