So much for Coexistence

On Friday afternoon, outside the Rami Levy in Gush Etzion, emergency responders (IDF, police, and ambulances) arrived in full force after rival Arab clans attacked one another, and the Israelis who got in the way.

2 Israelis (including 1 policeman), and 6 Arabs (including the attendant at the local Gas station) were evacuated to hospitals.

Rami Levy is supposed to be a symbol of coexistence in Gush Etzion, but it looks like this symbol just wasn't enough to maintain the fragile coexistence that exists in "Palestinian" Arab society which is actually a conglomeration of often rival Hamulot (clans).

It is not clear what this means for the Rami Levy store, but I am sure security is going to be beefed up until Ramadan is over.

I think I'm going to bring my gun next time I go shopping there.

I said the same thing to Jameel this evening!

JoeSettler,

The Arabs cannot live in harmony with each other. How do people expect them to live in peace with the dhimmi Jews?

Joe! You don't take you gun with you everywhere you go?

One might infer from your craftily worded post that Rami Levy is..

Ahh, you remembered to insert the word store in the closing paragraph.

Why not just call a spade a spade and say supermarket?

I'm not sure I understand your craftily worded comment.

Those of us in Israel (and regular readers of this blog) know that the Rami Levy chain of supermarkets have been in the news a lot lately.

Jews ("Settlers") and Arabs ("Palestinians") regularly shop and work together side by side in the store.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Authority has threatened Arabs (with death) who shop and work there.

Yes, once again the racist Israeli army and police have engaged in unnecessary violence against innocent members of my community, merely because we were trying to honor our ancient traditions and customs.

I have already contacted our community leaders to organize a Day of Rage protest over this, and I have filed an appeal with the Supreme Court over this latest violation of our rights.

Joe- So non-Israeli's and new readers should be left in the dark? Or stay away?

When Jameel and Lurker post they don't make us guess (or Google) arcane colloquialisms. Maybe you should try and write for the masses too...

We'll try to be clearer next time.
