When Haaretz had no problem with a Jewish State

June 28, 1948 Ha'aretz Headline:

Today the Israeli Army will Swear Allegiance
to its Nation, Land, and Country.

I guess Ha'aretz didn't mind back then because it was before 1967.

Where does it say anything about sweating allegiance to Israel as a Jewish state? "עמו" could simply refer to Israelis.

Yoni R: And עם ישראל refers to who exactly?

Sorry - this is totally self explanatory...and there was no one in 1948 who possibly thought differently.

I think they're happy that the Etzel and Lechi were joining.
