Sometimes I'm really good at it, and other times I think, "You want to see a bad mood, kid? Watch this!"....My kids know that look well enough to stay out of my way... :)
My husband is Swedish. They are terrible cheerleaders. He is great in many ways as a Dad, but he would most likely say, "Well Buddy, it's just gonna get worse." And then I throw something at him. With love of course.

Moms are better at pacifying screaming children because they already have experience pacifying screaming husbands. (-;
are you generally the one in the bad mood and you are complaining your wife can't deal with it like your mom can, or are your kids in the bad mood?
is it only moms that are able to do this?
only moms that are having an otherwise good day.
Rafi: To clarify: my wife can deal with my kids bad moods better than me.

i was going to say i do this much more often with my husband than with my kids. Hmmm....
Commenter Abbi: Does your husband do this for your kids? :-)
(or for you?)
Baila: What do you do with little kids who have no comprehension of you being in a bad mood?
