But one upset anonymous commentor believes we are obsessing about Obama, to which I responded, "I'd be happy to ignore Obama - if only Obama would ignore us."
But the ObamaCommentator then said that, "Obama is not obsessed with Israel. Israel is obsessed with Obama. The number of times he has given speeches about Israel is relatively small."
So I decided to check on that, using the White House Press section as my source.
This is what I found:
I present the Obama-Israel Checklist for last week.
Aug. 21 Ramadan Kareeem speech. Obama mentions Israel.
Check.
Aug. 20 White House Press Briefing. Gibbs said that Obama just spoke with the King of Jordan about... Israel.
Check.
Aug. 19 White House Blog. Obama's blog talks all about Israel and Obama's talking all about Israel.
Check.
Aug. 18 Obama spoke with Mubarak about... Israel.
Check.
No Check
Conclusion.
In 4 out of 5 workdays last week, Obama spoke about Israel.
Correction: (thanks Lurker)
Aug. 17 Obama's Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, held talks with Hosni Mubarak about... Israel.
Check.
Conclusion:
In 5 out of 5 workdays last week, Obama spoke about Israel.
I think only Healthcare was mentioned (a lot) more.
That's not obsessed?
This is not an anti-Obama blog. It's a pro-Israel, pro-Settlement blog. If Obama is constantly mentioning Israel in a negative light, then we certainly reserve the right to respond in kind from time to time.
If he stops, we'll stop.
Wherever I am, my blog turns towards Eretz Yisrael טובה הארץ מאד מאד

I don't think you born again frum settlers want peace any more than Hamas does
1. Why do you think we're born again?
2. Why are you comparing us to Hamas? Do you do the same for Republicans?
Ever notice how your "Peace" always revolves around kicking Jews out of their land and home?
Aug. 17 No mention of Israel!
No Check

Looks like it's 5 for 5...
Excellent piece about combat medicine. Loved it. that's why I read the Muqata-- it's not all right and left politics.
But your post about Obama and how often he mentions Israel? How do bloggers say it? LAUGHING OUT LOUD!!!
You mean the secretary of state and the president's spokesman count as President Obama mentioning Israel? And his mentioning it while meeting with the leaders of Jordan and egypt count as well? You guys are soooooo funny.
Yes, the State of Israel was mentioned in press conferences and by gvnmt officials. But clearly what was meant was whether B.O. made significant policy statements or singled out Israel for particular mention.
Why don't you google Egypt or France or Canada and see how many times the sec of state the labor scty and other major gvnmt officials mentioned them.
You're all very funny in your argument, but I think you're missing the point.
Yes, the U.S. gvnmt mentioned Israel. But it is not all a vast left wing conspiracy (irony intended). Barak Obama does not keep pestering Israel with policy initiatives or pointing out what's going on daily in the settlements.
'nuff said.
"The Arab-Israeli situation is something that has been of ongoing interest and we had an extensive conversation about how we could help to jumpstart an effective process on all sides to move away from a status quo that is not working for the Israeli people, the Palestinian people, or, I think, the region as a whole."
That is the quote from Obama's blog that you mentioned while he was meeting with the President of Egypt. Radical stuff, dude.
Is this your demonstration of President Obama's obsession with Israel, that he mentioned it in a conversation with Hosni Mubarak and emphasized moving away from the status quo?
You're right. He is out to get Israel.
I love how you can use statistics to prove anything you want if you present them "correctly".
Actually Obama does pester Israel daily as to what is going on daily in the Settlements and in Jerusalem.
George Mitchell is Obama's personal envoy. He is meeting with the Prime Minister very soon to pester Israel some more for Obama.
Read the news. Mitchell's been talking to Ehud Barak and Netanyahu's staff constantly (every day) these past few weeks to create a Settlement Freeze.
I didn't read anything about a conspiracy here. I saw mention that Obama is talking about Israel all the time. And he obviously is.
Why are you reading into it more than everyone else here reads?

All this post shows is that Obama mentioned Israel, not that the mentions were negative. A little sloppy... did your anti-Obama agenda get in the way? (again)
Just take a quick look at the history. Whenever the US president was to friendly with Israel, things went worse. Just more recent example of Clinton (a big friend of Jews) trying to sell Israel to Arafat in Camp David, sparking another intifada. So, I rather have less friendly approach from US - it saved more lives in the long term. At the end of the day US will continue support Israel, regardless if Israel complies with what Obama has to say or not.
Pro-Israel, pro-settler?
Time to sort out your contradictions I feel. It's more like pro-a minority which insists on taking a massive share of GDP whilst imperilling others for some ideological nonsense, pro-settler.
I think most people would accept that, in those circumstances, Obama would be at the top of your hate list. As would Rabin, Dayan, Ben Gurion and anyone else who was prepared to explore trading land for peace - if the deal could be done.
Rather than wrap yourselves in the flag, you could think about what you are actually insisting on. To worship settlement isn't Jewish and it isn't Zionism either.
Oh well, enjoy yourselves responding with outrage. I'm off back to Dov Bear and the real world.
