Holy Hat-tip, Batman!

This blog is slightly over a year old, and it was only roughly a month ago that I was celebrating my one year blogaversary. Then the war broke out...and I had this compelling feeling that I needed to liveblog the war. I don't know what came over me, but the day the war started -- I instantly knew that liveblogging the war would help connect people to what was going on here.

I had no clue that today I would already be breaking 100,000 visitors to my blog since it's inception.

There are many stories I still need to tell, op/ed pieces that must be written, and encounters you need to hear about -- yet the war has put much of that on the back burner, and for that, I apologize. This blog was never meant to be a news aggregator roundup, just a fun, compelling blog about Israel with some extra slice of life stories thrown in.

I'd like to thank the Litvishe blogger for his invaluable help in keeping the blog going when I was on milluim/up north/or taking some time off. (He also introduced me to blogging in the first place). His breaking news story yesterday about the second doctored Reuters photo was a major milestone in this blog's placement in the blogosphere. Thanks to him, we received hat-tip's from all over the planet....

Once in a while, I browse through some other blogs, and think back to a month ago, when my blog was more care-free. There were so many fun ideas to explore (was it only a month ago, when the first muqata comment-festival started and I got locked out of my own blog?!), and there was a top-secret project I was working on with Ezzie, which has been shelved due to the war. I was so looking forward to writing about Tu B'Av -- the 15th day of Av -- which was always a "good" day for Israel and the Jewish people.

Hopefully, I'll get to some of that soon...I haven't forgotten.

I'd like to personally thank all of you who have written encouraging emails, and didn't receive a reply. I've been getting so much email that Ive been bad about personally replying...and I'm sorry if you haven't received a reply. (You can send me a reminder, and I'll try harder to get back to you).

Thanks again for your continued support and interest -- a Happy Tu b'Av to all of Israel.

Lehitraot - Chazak vEmatz,

Jameel.
PS: I just had to add this. Growing up, my parents never, NEVER let me watch Batman on our tiny 12 inch black and white TV. Never. It was just one of those shows a good Jewish boy shouldn't watch (or so I was told). So what did I do? Obviously, I would watch Batman down the block by my good friend...the rabbi's son. His parents didn't have a problem with the evil TV show... And what do I have to show for myself? Blog titles...hmm...maybe I shouldn't have watched it after all.
Wherever I am, my blog turns towards Eretz Yisrael

I - and I'm sure many, many others - appreciate your sacrificing the fun aspects of blogging in order to bring us the so-essential war news. Thanks, and great job!

Yes, what Elie said.

I consider myself among the lucky ones to have snagged some of your time on chat ...

IY"H, when the smoke clears, we could go back to our carefree existance ...

But in the meantime, you are doing a terrific job - chazak l' chazak!

In the meantime, it's also satisfying to see a good, solid blog like yours get the recognition it deserves. So many good blogs out there are overlooked (much like, say, yours was in your more humble beginings)but yours has found the light of day. You deserve it and deserve kudos for your excellent daily blogging of the war.

We look forward to peace in Eretz Yisrael and a return to your more fun-filled roots Jameel.

E.

I still have not quite figured out how you've been doing all this... AND working AND taking care of your kids etc. Meanwhile, our project can wait until what's truly important is no longer happening. Keep it up, hopefully we'll talk soon. (We're on "vacation", which is anything but...)

I wrote an essay about Tu B'Av, check out my blog. I hope you don't stop Jameel, because that's what it sounded like from the beginning of your post. Gut Yuntiff.

OK, now you've really got me going!

I understand our generation's Nice Jewish Parents (tm) not letting us watch Hogan's Heroes or Laugh-In (my mom banned both, snuck em in anyway!) But Batman?? Holy censorship! What in the name of Gotham was unwholesome or un-Jewish about that one?

(OK, maybe the 3rd season when they added Batgirl was a bit un-tznius, but those episodes were inferior anyway...)

People -- thanks for the encouragement -- we have NO plans on stopping :) (you hear that Reb Chaim?)

Jameel.

Elie - I think it was the "violence" aspect...(even if it was fake).

Of course, that's probably why I have an M16 now...

Violence - OK, that makes sense. Me, I was hooked on superhero comix from the time I learned to read, so my folks knew which TV shows to not even TRY banning!

BTW, I meant to say above, congrats on reaching 100,000 visitors!!

I know what it's like, I started out with a carefree personal blog and wound up with a war blog but it's hard to talk about anything else when the bombs are falling

Secret plans with Ezzie??? Is it about you know what? If it is, Ezzie has already blabbed about it. He's pretty bad with secrets. If I were you, I would "take care" of him as soon as possible.

May God bless the world. I am sure he did not mean for it to get as ugly as it is right now. Islam must be defeated around the world.

If it is not, then we are doomed for a religious war, no doubt !

I put the word out about your blog a while back when I found it whiel surfing. I hope I did not direct too many haters here. :O( Keep up the good work.

Is there any palce that you can get a list of all the soldiers that have died thus far since this war started ?? Let me know. They need to all be recognized for defending Israel. Like a memorial for their sacrafice. God bless them all and thier familes and friends.

I'm sorry you haven't been able to focus on other things, because your writing is great, but I really do appreciate all the constant updates. They are extremely important, and make a huge difference to so many of us out here who wish we could do more. Keep up the amazing work!
