Will the State Department Convince us of His good will?

Last week the Jerusalem Post published a poll indicating that only 6% of Israelis consider the Obama administration pro-Israel, and 50% consider his policies pro-Palestinian. A mere 36% considered the White House neutral.

Assumed to be responding to the poll, and apparently speaking for the White House , NSC's Mike Hammer (Mickey Spillane?) responded last week that the White House "remain committed to peace and security for Israel".

I guess that should have convinced us of His good will.

Except yesterday, a reporter forced State Department Spokesman Mr. Ian Kelly to clarify what Obama includes in his definition of settlements.

QUESTION: On Israel, I was wondering what your reaction is to the new Israeli budget that puts tens of millions of dollars for new construction in Ma'ale Adummim in the West Bank and Har Homa in Jerusalem.
MR. KELLY: I’ll see if I can get you more information on that.
QUESTION: Okay. And then just to clarify --
MR. KELLY: Yeah.
QUESTION: When you’re talking about no natural growth in settlements --
MR. KELLY: Yeah.
QUESTION: -- does that include any Jerusalem neighborhoods that are over the green line?
MR. KELLY: That – we call for a cease to all settlement activity.
QUESTION: Including Jerusalem --
QUESTION: (Inaudible.)

QUESTION: Including Jerusalem in that?
MR. KELLY:
We’re talking about all settlement activity, yeah, in the area across the line.

QUESTION: Thank you.

In case you don't know what "in the area across the line" refers to, that means not just Har Homa, but also Gilo, Abu Tor, Armon HaNatziv (East Talpiot), The Atarot airport and industrial zone, Pisgat Ze'ev, Ramat Eshkol, Ramot, French Hill, the Rockerfeller Museum alongside the Old City, the Mount of Olives, and of course the Jewish Quarter in the Old City of Jerusalem (and the Old City itself) and the Kotel (I assume we can keep Hebrew U, but will we be allowed contiguous access?).

All those neighborhoods are over the Green Line and within Jerusalem. All those are neighborhoods are where Jews are living "settling".

At this point, I would point out that its absolutely clear that the US position to destroy settlements is not restricted to homesteads, towns, villages and cities like Sdei Boaz, Shdema, Migron, Efrat and Ma'aleh Adumim, but rather, the US has declared war against the Jews of Jerusalem itself.

QUESTION: Mr.Kelly, We are planning our son's Bar Mitzvah at the Kotel this coming winter. There he will become a man. So you're saying he won't be allowed to reach his maturity there because the Kotel is across the Green Line?

MR. KELLY: We’re talking about all settlement activity, yeah, in the area across the line.

Considering the State Department has never recognized even West Jerusalem as Israel's capital, it doesn't exactly come as a surprise. Jewish rights to Jerusalem should be non-negotiable. This is one red line the government must not allow to be crossed under any circumstances.

We need more responses coming from Israel about the chutzpa of America - like the one about residents of the Iroquois territory lecturing Israel...

So is the ban on anti Obama posts over?

"All settlement activity" - does this mean that we can no longer walk down the street? What exactly is "settlement activity?"

LWD: No. I was only quoting a State Department official clarifying His position.

This is so preposterous that it should be ignored politely and with a bunch of rhetoric by Bibi. It's more of the fairytales coming from the Beit HaLavan (as in Lavan harasha).

"Preposterous–adjective: completely contrary to nature, reason, or common sense; absurd; senseless; utterly foolish: a preposterous tale."

I think Bibi (or someone high in the government) should clarify, that if Obama thinks that Jews in Jerusalem are the obstacle to peace, then that proves that His entire understanding of what is preventing peace is defective.

DB wouldn't have written that. Please don't write things in his name.

On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves. On that day I will strike every horse with panic and its rider with madness," declares the LORD. "I will keep a watchful eye over the house of Judah, but I will blind all the horses of the nations. Then the leaders of Judah will say in their hearts, 'The people of Jerusalem are strong, because the LORD Almighty is their God.'
"On that day I will make the leaders of Judah like a firepot in a woodpile, like a flaming torch among sheaves. They will consume right and left all the surrounding peoples, but Jerusalem will remain intact in her place.

"The LORD will save the dwellings of Judah first, so that the honor of the house of David and of Jerusalem's inhabitants may not be greater than that of Judah. On that day the LORD will shield those who live in Jerusalem, so that the feeblest among them will be like David, and the house of David will be like God, like the Angel of the LORD going before them. On that day I will set out to destroy all the nations that attack Jerusalem.
[Zechariah 12:3-9]

I would love to see an actual street map that shows exactly whose house is "over the line!"

FROM CAROL HERMAN

Did Richard Nixon ever convince you to buy a used car? Now. How many years later, if you heard Nixon say "I am not a crook," would it take you to sort through and come to your own conclusion?

It's possible that Obama met his Katrina? Certainly, what Dubya said then "Brownie, you're doing a terrific job." Didn't credit Brownie with doing anything but a terrible job, a terrible reponse to Katrina.

Not everything said is the truth.

Not in whorehouses, when whores say they love you. And, not ever, when a politician's lips are moving.

Oh, and you're on your own when you go to buy a used car. (If it really worked well, you think it would be getting sold?)

All Obama has is his teleprompter. He was convinced he'd rule using it. Only to discover the world isn't full of Hillary's.

And, just like Livni. Who also has had time to "reconsider" ... doesn't mean she will. Or she does.

Sometimes, you can judge a piece of wood by how thick it is.

Same things happen to politicians who can't handle downturns.

Jamil, I'm sure that you didn't mean to leave Neveh Ya`qov off your list of places whence the Obamaniacs want to expel Jewish residents. Why can't we speak frankly and call The One's policy Racist? Remember all those situations in the US where the so-called "liberals" in the US insisted that Black people had to be allowed to move in to well defined ethnic neighborhoods, Irish, Italian, Polish, etc? What about the housing covenants that kept Jews out of many neighborhoods and suburban municipalities in the US?

The policy is racist --and what's worse is that so-called liberals support the denial of Jewish settlement rights!! That includes Jewish Democratic party politicians like Gary Ackerman who helped get the Jewish vote for Obama. Are they better than kapos?

This is the same State Department spokesman who still wants to have Iranian diplomats over at embassy July 4th parties.

He's clearly just as dangerously muddled as his bosses.

FROM CAROL HERMAN

Few people know (because myth took over the story line), but that it's true: Abraham Lincoln had only three very good weeks in office. And, years of deal with incompetent generals.

At first, to compensate, Lincoln began teaching himself strategy. (Well, when your generals fail you, and you can smell something is wrong; you need to study hard to find out where strategies live.)

Obama? He's just an academic. Used to the rules of Haarvard, and the other Ivy's. Where Jews have gotten clobbered. You didn't know this? You didn't know Jews pushed open the doors through which unqualified people approached those "good old credentials?" Sorry, that you didn't know this.

But it's an ivory tower. People who dwell there are out of touch with reality.

While Dubya (also fond of pushing Israel around), discovered on the way out the door; he hardly had any legacy left.

That the GOP put up McCain? They thought he was a bargain. Loved by the media. They smelled "free publicity."

Back in 2004? It was the donk's turn. They thought Heinz would pay for her husband's run. And, so they bought John Kerry "wholesale." Didn't sell retail.

As to the news; right now, with the "best laid plans" ... go figa. Michael Jackson sucked the news cycle down the drain.

While what will Obama do ahead? Hurt Israel so he can bring a "platter of goodies" to iran?

Man's grossly over-rated. (While no one mentions what it must be like to watch Livni kicking herself; and now Mofaz decided to add his foot into that mix.) Lots of luck.
