Ahmed Tibi must have thought that he was going to have an easy time of it.
After all, Arafat embarrassed Shimon Peres all the time on TV, and poor Shimon never knew what to answer when put on the spot.
So when Ahmed Tibi publicly called Israel an Apartheid state at a conference right after Tzipi Livni spoke, he probably figured he'd get away with it too (I would have thought so also).
From the stage, Livni said in response that, "The fact is that you are an MK in Israel, and represent 20 percent of the public, and can say whatever you please. This is the proof that Israel is a democratic state."
Wow!
Who knew she had it in her. She surprised us all.

Expect her retort to count for nothing. Here in the USA we have people screaming about their rights being trampled RIGHT NOW with volume and ferocity in inverse proportion to the actual current abrogation of their freedoms at the moment.
In other words, the less they are censored, the louder they claim they are being censored. While I warn of it coming down the pike but don't claim I'm being silenced this minute, they seriously don't see the irrationality of claiming that we presently live in a total fascist police state and have no rights while they make the claim at the top of their lungs and across campuses and the Internet.
Now, if this is happening in one of the wealthiest most comfortable and free nations anywhere, you can see how much less likely the Palestinian terrorists are to be rational and take Livni's statement to heart.
Side comment: I loved Orna Banai's interpretation of Tzipi Sunday night on Eretz Nehederet- with her chipmunk mouth and weird tilt of her head to each side. It was great.
