What do the following JBloggers have in common?

With the entire JBlogosphere blogging about Sharon (may he have a full recovery), and I assume I will later as well, I would like to pose the following trivia quiz to you.

For a change, this really is a serious quiz...(no left-wing yeshivish survey answers here)

The following, slightly eclectic list of bloggers all have something in common; I did about 10 minutes of research to figure it out, and I'll post the answer next week.

(in no particular order)

LabRab, Steg, Shifra, Elie, Orthomom, IsraeliGum, DovBear
Krum, Amshi, LittleWolf, Jack, Ezzie

Hint - the commonality is not:

They are all on my blogroll (since they aren't)
They have all received JIB nominations (they haven't)
They all know each other in real life (they don't)
I know them all or am in email contact with them (no clue who some of them are)

OK, they are all Jewish...(probably)...but that's not it either.

Additional Hint - the commonality has nothing to do per-se with their regular blog content, (i.e., they blog about Jewish life) blog construct (i.e. the use haloscan comments), or comments they have made elsewhere.

I must admit I was thrilled to have found this commonality, but I wonder if anyone else will figure it out.

I am just guessing here - they learned in Israel the same year?

Jameel @ The Muqata said...

WBM: I doubt it...besides, why would that be interesting? Maybe as a factoid...what I found out is alot more important.

JoeSettler said...

They all use blogspot to post?

Jameel @ The Muqata said...

MM: Aren't your answers #1 and #5 the same? I must admit that would be a cool trick to be all of them...

Joe: No clue...Nothing to do with blog infrastucture.

they all like cholent on shabbat?

Who are 12 people who have never been in my kitchen?
:-)

yitz said...

Looking at the first 3, they've all been hit with the stupid 4 Meme. [No, don't bother tagging me, as I'm not into these stupid games]. I imagine the others were too, but I didn't bother to check.

tafka PP said...

Yitz I think you are right, it is something along those lines. Which means Jameel has read all their MEMEs. Dear G-d.

Jameel @ The Muqata said...

Yitz and Parrot: Yes, I have read all their MEME's...and thats not it.

(but you are getting warmer)

David: Hmmm...would that mean everyone else has been in your kitchen? ;-)

Jack Steiner said...

You are right. I have 17 different blog identities. I used to be the Renegade Rebbitzen as well, but just didn't have the time to do it so I gave it up.

Jameel @ The Muqata said...

Jack: Really - that was you?!

I had a feeling you were writing those bedika posts...

Ezzie said...

We all have more hits than Jameel? :)

Soccer Dad said...

I thought I saw a pattern, but it only applied to the 3 of them (so far) that they vacationed in New Hampshire. But that wasn't it.

Do you know where the kitchen comment comes from?

Lab Rab said...

Oooh, ooh, I think I know!

Jameel @ The Muqata said...

Ezzie: OUCH! That hurt...

David: No clue...where's it from?

Lab Rab: I have a feeling you do know the answer...email me.

Jameel @ The Muqata said...

Shmuel - Wow...that totally came out of left field.

Actually, I don't think its true that they all have liberal tendencies...maybe some of them.

In any event - survey says...

BAHHHHH.

Try again.

Jack Steiner said...

Jameel,

Would you like my shirt? Ok, truly tasteless joke there.

Jameel @ The Muqata said...

Jack: Hmmm..Ren-Reb made reference to that line as well.

Maybe you really are Dr. Jack and Mrs. Renreb...

I'm off to an MDA refresher. Will be back later.

MC Aryeh said...

Could it be a "since they all mention they would rather be living in Israel - so why aren't they on a plane yet?" type thing?

Shifra said...

oooh that definately sounds like something Jameel would pick up on!

Elie said...

David:

Your "kitchen" line is from the classic Jeopardy episode of Cheers, where Cliff has a huge lead and then bets it all on Final Jeopardy. One of the few post-Diane episodes that I loved.

Jameel: I have no clue! But I can definitely confirm that all the guesses so far are false. I'm very curious as to what possible commonality would actully be "thrilling" to discover. Don't keep us in suspense forever!

PS: If this was a hint for me to add your blog to my slowly-growing roll, it worked!

Jack Steiner said...

Maybe you really are Dr. Jack and Mrs. Renreb...

Call me Dr. Jackitzen

we all sing barney's anthem wearing funny little yellow neck ties while dancing around the house in our jammies?ooops thahts just me.

chardal said...

They all live in Chutz LaAretz

Elie said...

True... I wear a funny little green necktie when I do that. The funny little yellow necktie is strictly for formal occasions.

Little Wolf said...

I very confused. We were supposed to be singing the Barney song?

I am waiting to find out hwat I have in common with the others. I feel so unrelated to them all.

Anonymous said...

Jack, I thought you and Stacey were the same person!

Jack didn't you say that one of your parents served in the PeaceCorps...maybe that's the connection. NOT!

Ezzie said...

We're not all liberal... I like the all in the US answer. Makes a lot of sense.

Jack Steiner said...

No, Stacey is one of my 17 wives and I don't wear cute neckties. All of mine are ugly. What is the point of cute.

Elie said...

OK, I'll post my serious but mundane/lame answer: We all work in high-tech?

Even if true I can't believe that would be it since it's true of so many other J-bloggers who are not on the list.

Ezzie said...

I'm not in high-tech.

Ezzie said...

Did we all say we'd rather be in Israel in our MEME's?!

Elie said...

Ezzie: I checked, and you're close, but Amshi did not list Israel. A couple of others also listed specific Israeli cities instead of "Israel", but even if you count those, a miss is as good as a mile.

Ezzie said...

Amshi said "Muqata"...

Jack Steiner said...

a miss is as good as a mile.

But a good miss can really warm your heart and make you smile, not to mention a hell of a kugel.

Jameel @ The Muqata said...

Whoa! I just got back from my MDA course...

I should go to MDA refresher's more often :)

The truth is - MCAryeh guessed it - but without the "why aren't you on a plane" line...

Its TOTALLY great to see so many bloggers who were MEME'd to all have the same wish and dream of being here, and I was really thrilled.

Now I just have to figure out what to do to get everyone here...

I just added the "why aren't you on a plane?" line because I figured that would be your follow-up :)

Jameel @ The Muqata said...

MC Aryeh: Not in the slightest...

I'm actually totally thrilled by my research into the MEME4...and how 99% of those tagged who live in Ch'ul would rather be in Israel.

I was rather happily surprised (and do you know what a pain it was checking all those MEME's???!!!)

MC Aryeh said...

"Now I just have to figure out what to do to get everyone here..."

Kind of the lighter version of "why aren't you on a plane over to Israel yet?" LOL!

Why were you surprised, though? Many U.S. yidden would rather be living in Israel ideally - at least when it is theoretical...

Jameel @ The Muqata said...

MC Aryeh:

I disagree...I visit the USA all the time, and ALWAYS ask people about Israel, and they usually stare at me as if I'm some sort of freak. (Well, I guess the orange Kafiya could be the reason).

The "Why are't you on a plane" line isn't really valid -- but rather, what can be done to help people move. NbN is one way...and there are many others.

For example, if a perfect job landed in your lap, wouldn't that make aliya more appealing?

Ezzie said...

Jameel - yes, I was pointing it out to Elie. And do I get points for putting MCAryeh and whoever said MEME together?! :)

But really, the Muqata's in Israel? And here, I thought Arafat would NEVER live in Israel. Hmph.

Jameel @ The Muqata said...

Ezzie: Even though MC Aryeh guessed first, you also get some points...well, maybe 1. ;-)

To be totally honest, Yitz and Purple Parrot were the first to even think of MEME's.

I was worried that someone would use Chardal's line that "all lived in chutz la'aretz"...but things were already hopping by then.

I'm also sure that Zion Report is absolutely devistated not to be on the list, and even though he did the same MEME, he put in some lame line instead (and I'm sure he's kicking himself for not being included in this group).

Elie: I must add you to my blogroll as well, but that had nothing to do with getting on the list. You earned it yourself ;-)

(And it was a major pain tracking every single MEME to see everyone's tags..but it was obivously worth it)

Today has definitly been my best blog day ever. And the comments were by far the most entertaining.

Reminds me of the JBlogosphere 60's I thought I missed.

Ezzie said...

Our pleasure to have been a part of it ;)

MC Aryeh said...

I don't know, Jameel. I think many U.S. Jews would like to live in Israel in an ideal sense, but don't actually want to live there in a real sense.

I took Israel's presence on so many of the memes to be a case of the former - would ideally like to be there, but in reality not genuinely interested in leaving the states anytime soon(which is why it didn't surprise me). Would be curious to hear from those who included it whether that is in fact the case.

Job/finances is only part of the equation for many people; family is a big factor; comfort/lifestyle is another (whether you or I agree with it or not).

Jameel @ The Muqata said...

mcaryeh: That will be next week's discussion! :-)

Jack Steiner said...

I could write chapter and verse. Here is a snippet I wrote about Israel and myself.

Jameel @ The Muqata said...

Jack: Excellent!

You'll be an active participant in next week's discussion :)

Tonight's MDA EMT refresher was interesting. We reviewed adult and infant BSL, Defibrillators...and saline infusions. I left before gettig stabbed for an infusion. I'll catch up on that again in 3 weeks.

Shabbat Shalom - I've had it for this week.

ME!!!!!

Jameel @ The Muqata said...

Joe: Its 1:20 AM in the freaking morning -- are you insane?

Steg (dos iz nit der šteg) said...

When I said Israel, I didn't necessarily mean that i'd rather be living there — just that i'd rather be there, whether living or on vacation, at that moment. After all, while i'd rather be in Newfoundland too, i don't think i'd really like to live there. A vacation would be nice, though.

JoeSettler said...

Jameel: Look who's talking.

I'm not insane. My kid doesn't sleep, ergo, no one sleeps.
Though not sleeping enough is known to induce insanity.

OK. Maybe.

Hmm. I totally see what you're saying. It's easy to have an "ideal" of Israel in mind... But once you hear about all the problems, especially economic once, you think twice about leaving this country. Nevertheless, I'm hoping to be able to live at least part time in Israel one day... But first, I've got to finish my education and save up some money! : )

tafka PP said...

Blimey. Not only was I a contributing correct guesser, but the whole world is apparently now reading your blog! I came on to congratulate you for a record number of comments- I think this makes me "Number 66!"

- doubt there are many "Miss Saigon" fans out there anymore.

Shabbat Shalom

Eshet Chayil,

I am hurt, shattered and left mute. You have never read any of these people. You must check them out, they are really cool. ;)

Jameel @ The Muqata said...

Eshet Chayil: Actually, Im shocked and left mute that of all those blogs, you read THIS one! You should definitly check them out (and of course, Jack's).

Parrot: I saw Miss Saigon...wow that was a while ago. Thanks for reminding me about that.

Shabbat Shalom all...things are about to get mega hectic with muqata shabbat preparations. (And I assume I'll still shower after candle lighting)

YMedad said...

Gee, and here I thought that there are enough people living in Israel who are "in Galut" without all those bloggers living in Galut who want to be in Israel.

Jameel @ The Muqata said...

YMedad: All we need to do is intersect the j-blogosphere plane of existance with the 5th dimension of Israel and everything will work out.

maybe.

Jeez mhh! let's see... it's obviously somthing to do with Judaism... I'm still floating :)

Be careful, talk like that might get you kicked in the tuchus with a big galut, or maybe not.
