Scandalous JBlog Behaviour

When a J-Blogger tells another J-Blogger they love them...

Yes, it happened to me last week.

I'm happily married...and the other blogger is ALSO married (I’m pretty sure happily as well)

We're both religiously observant, Orthodox Jews.

We're both…male.

And then...out of the blue...on the phone, he says to me..."love you."

I'm sure the Mrs. @ The Muqata's eyebrows just shot up…

Desperately trying to get ourselves ready for my son's bar mitzva, a rather strange thing happened last week. A male blogger friend of mine called me up to say "hi," and wish me a "mazal tov" on my son's upcoming bar mitzva.

We chatted for a few minutes...discussed some ideas for different postings...and he gets a phone call.

It was a rather important one as well.

He says he has to run.

Then, on auto-pilot he throws the following pitch at me, "gotta run, important phone call, love you, bye".

Now, either this is how he ends conversations with his wife, or he thinks I’m his wife, or he actually loves me, or all of the above and then some.

What can I say? I hope his wife knows.

Wherever I am, my blog turns towards Eretz Yisrael

What can I say?

You complete me...

You had me at hello...

Aren't we obligated to love our fellow Jews?

My wie actually prefers, that if I am going to say I love you to any non-relative, that they look like you do - as she has no reason to get jealous.

Ze'ev - and I thought I was being polite by leaving your name off the post.

Guess I will have to tell everyone about the REST of the conversation

;-)

And I think that's just beautiful...

Aw Jameel, I love you too!

:::HUG!!!:::

I once did something like that to my mother-in-law. She was really surprised when I called her "sweetie." It has not happened again.

David: Did she appreciate the comment?

Mirty: I haven't yet tried that on my boss. I wonder what his reaction will be...

LabRab: Thanks! I feel much more secure now.

TAFKAPP: We still haven't heard any comment from Ze'ev's wife...

You mean that I have to share my love for Bernie with more than one person. Oy!

I had it happen to me once. My best friend (female, unmarried), once told me the same thing - and it wasn't on the phone. It turned out she was used to saying it to her mother whenever they were parting. LOL!

I can't wait until Shifra writes the next segment of "Brokeback Muqata"...

I can't remember a time when I've spoken a personal phrase in a business setting. But then again, I've used business terms at home on MANY an occasion. For example, my wife's TAM (Total Addressable Market) for her potato kugel is very high.

ROTFL! Weird, I assumed it was Ze'ev. Why is that?!

Jameel - I lost whatever self-respect I had long ago - next time you can feel free just to link directly to my blog - I'll trade pride for hits any day - as was shown by my "Sex in the Holy City" series of posts.

Ezzie - I'm curious to know why you thought it was me...

Must Gum Guy: Hey, I was thinking of writing "Brokeback Muqata"...now you say only Shifra can write stuff like that?

I guess I'll have to ask her to guest blog again. (And get another 2500 hits in a week)

Jack: There's plenty of lovin' for all to share. ('specially if it means a hug from the LabRab)

Zeev: The fact that Ezzie suspected you means you are the kinda guy who ends all his posts with Wherever I am, my blog turns towards Eretz Yisrael, love you, click

J-Cop: Why do you think I'm home?! I'm in the first class lounge in Terminal 4 @ Heathrow...no IM acesss either from the public terminals. Maybe I'll fire up my laptop and WiFi and see what I can get working.

I blogged the whole taxi ride to the airport...will upload it tomorrow morning when I'm back.

I think it depends on the person.

I have a friend who is very- pure, maybe- in terms of emotion. He says love when he talks/ writes to me. He doesn't mean it sexually, but rather in a friendly way, a spiritual way, even.

I think that's something to aspire to...after all, in the beginning of time Adam and Chava were completely unclothed- it was only later that they learned the meaning of shame.

Woohoo!

I once went into auto-piolet and told a good friend's Mum I loved her at the end of a conversation, I was rushing off the phone as MY Mum was on call waiting.

The funniest part was the fact my friends mother hadn't noticed it to be out of the ordinary until I called back to explain/appologise!

I love you all. Don't ever change!

I think I'll have a nice cold shower now...

Does anyone remember David and Jonathan.
Really 'at special times like Bar -mitzvah emotions are brought to the surface.
Lots of nachas.

Must Gum Addict- great line!

While writing this I never imagined it would move towards the theme of "Ahavat Chinam" and mashiach (and thereby, Eretz Yisrael of course!)

Kudos to you all :)

LOL, wow. Good stuff! I once almost said 'love you' to my closest girl friend as I was hanging up the phone. I was just used to saying that to my hubby before I hang up. I caught myself. Maybe he slipped the same way. Or if he really loves you, cant that be a beautiful friendly thing too? We are way too wary of feelings these days!

I think it's a good thing when you reach the level of closeness where you can say I love you to someone. I definitely have friends I can say that to. And if it is cause to bring moshiach and avoid sinat chinam all the better....
