Shimon Peres: Israel's new Prime Minister! President

As Presidential contender, MK Reuven Rivlin said today, "Today I have entered the Guinness Book for World Records, for I am the first to have ever lost to Shimon Peres..."

For the first time in over 25 years, the above video clip is incorrect...Peres has won an election.

Unfortunately for Israel, I think Peres still believes he won the Prime Ministership.

I can easily foresee in a year or two, Gaza's war against us will continue, and elected Prime Minister Netanyahu will have to worry about...President Peres. Peres will globe trot, broker "peace" deals of no value which are totally out of his domain, and Netanyahu will be faced with the impossible challenge of dealing with a competing Prime Minister, Shimon Peres.

Even today, as Peres was incorrectly pronouncing words from the Tanach at his acceptance speech in the Knesset, the Peres Peace Center was hosting the following anti-Zionist European NGO conference.

The keynote speech at this week's NGO event is being given by Avram Burg, described by the conference program as an “Israeli political personality,” despite Burg’s revealing interview with Haaretz (June 1) in which he calls for Israel to cease being a Jewish entity.

Each of the Israeli organizations invited – Betselem. Combatants for Peace, Israeli Coalition Against Home Demolitions, Machsom Watch, Parents' Circle, Rabbis for Human Rights and Yesh Din – carries a uniquely venomous message which describes Israel’s very presence in Judea and Samaria as a criminal violation of international law. One of those groups, the Israel Committee for Home Demolitions (ICHAD), goes so far as to compare Israeli law with Nazi law. In a presentation in March 2000 on a Boston affiliate of National Public Radio, ICHAD head Jeff Halper alleged that Israel's zoning and building regulations are not ordinary laws, and that Israel's legal system resembles the Nazi Nuremberg Laws. Halper has never retracted that comparison.

Arab speakers at the conference include Fatah leaders Yassir Abed Rabo and Jibril Rajub, who are unlikely to mention that Fatah continues to conduct terror operations against Israelis. No one at the conference will remind participants that Fatah's Al Aksa Brigades is defined by the US, the EU and Israel as a terrorist organization that has not renounced its ways. hat-tip; Lurker and Rafi G.

Shimon Peres won today.
And the people of Israel lost.

Wherever I am, my blog turns towards Eretz Yisrael

Technically did Peres really win?

He actually didn't win the 1st round which required at least 60 (61?) votes and he only had 58.

Only after he had no competitor running against him - and was essentially running against himself did he "win".

joe - in arutz7's article reviewing the vote they mentioned that as ell, that he did not really defeat any oponent, so it was bittersweet...

the problem is, el presidente, that josephus - who wrote 700 years before mohammed was even born - describes at length that isaac was 27 when he was sacrificed (or 37 according to other sources)

point being - islam twisted the text. how come all this ishmael sacrifice c**p only started making the rounds after mohammed made it up? if it was true before, why did no-one else challenge josephus when he was writing, or the Hebrew bible, when it was translated into greek 2000 years' ago?

man, muslims are SOOOO ignorant. and then you wonder how come we can't have a lasting peace. could it be because your 'peaceful' religion teaches you to kill anyone who isn't a muslim -d'ya think?
