Anat Dot Com Breaking News; Disk "lost"

In newly released for publication revelation from the Anat Kamm and Haaretz Reporter Uri Blau (alleged) espionage case; the disk with with the additional 1950 stolen and classified IDF documents -- has "disappeared."

YNET reports today (only currently in Hebrew), that one of the CDs burned by Kamm, and given to Blau has disappeared and no one knows where it is.

It could have been thrown out in the trash, or might be hanging from someone's rear-view car mirror in Netanya, or they could be in the hands of Iran, Hizbollah, Hamas, Fatah or Bin-Laden.

The IDF is now working under the assumption that the files have fallen into the hands of Israel's enemies, and are changing hundreds of operational plans.

The utter irresponsibility of Anat Kamm and Uri Blau towards the security of the State of Israel is staggering.

Anat Dot Com; Espionage in the Digital Age

In the old days, espionage involved photographing documents with super secret spy cameras. As technology evolved, it got simpler -- like using a copying machine.

In the alleged case of Anat Kamm, it seems she took it a step forward, either burning the 2000 classified documents onto CD, or even simply -- copying it to a USB "disk on key." By the way - the "disk on key" technology was invented in Israel.

Regardless, there are a few important posts I'd like to link on the subject of Anat Kamm and Uri Blau.

One is by Attorney Dr. Haim Misgav, who writes that "Anarchy isn’t democracy: Law and order not top priority of journalist charged with espionage."

Another is by historian and author, Yaacov Lozowick, entitled, "A Threat to Democracy" One statement which jumped as me was:

"Some of Israel's critics are dong everything in their power to portray her as a brave whistle-blower. (Silverstone, Mondowiess). The problem with this story line is that she didn't blow any whistles while she was in a position to do so, and after she left the army it took more than a year before she found anyone willing to look at her documents."

Lastly, "Had She Been A Settler?" Yaki Hafstein wonders whether we’d see different reactions had spy suspect Kam been a rightist...
