The Big Question

I have a question. It’s something that has been bothering me for a while. That something just does not compute. Totally lacking logic. Really, I don’t get it.

Liberals, Progressives, Lefties. Yeah, you. The folks who believe in the primacy of human rights, the right to a free press, the right to sexual freedom, reproductive rights, environmental rights, etc. etc. You know who I’m talking about. These are all the things you stand for. Oh yeah, minority rights, freedom of religion (or freedom from religion), am I missing anything? I’m sure you all can come up with a few more.

One would, if using straight logic, think that given a fight between two groups, one who embraces all of these things whole heartedly and one who found every last item on that list an anathema the logical choice would be to side with those one agreed with. Correct me if my thinking is off here.

Yet, it always seems, those enlightened elites, those bastions of liberal right thinking, all seem to support the most backwards primitive crowd in its genocidal war against a left wing liberal democracy. Of course I’m talking about the Arab-Israeli conflict, more specifically the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.

On one side you have Israel. Where everything goes, the press is free and so is the love. Women have full rights; heck there’s even been a woman Prime Minister. Homosexuals don’t get stoned in the streets. Young girls aren’t beaten to death because they thought they might go have coffee with the boy down the street. You certainly aren’t strung up if you sell land to a Christian, or a Muslim, or a Buddhist or even a Jew.

On the otherside…well, you have Homosexuals stoned in the streets, young girls killed by their own brothers and fathers for falling in love with the wrong fellow, the death penalty for selling land to a Jew. No respect for the environment goes without saying. Corruption, torture, extortion. These are a way of life. Chance after chance, yields nothing but more.

It can’t be Israel’s human rights record. There isn’t an Arab country in the world with a better record then Israel. The only difference being, if you report something in Israel it makes the front page and people lose their job and go to jail. In the Arab world, you report something and you lose your job and go to jail.

And who do you support?

There’s a saying: Just because I’m paranoid, doesn’t mean people aren’t after me. Should we see anti-Semitism under every rock? No, but you certainly make it hard not to.

Wherever I am, my blog turns towards Eretz Yisrael

I do agree with what you say, but what does to do with killing people?!

There is divide world, it is all over us, look into africa. Is it any better? Should we try to change the people think or just kill inicent to get rid of radical?

The problems is, what you are saying is correct but the approach taken is not helping the matter.

Let's say in few days there will be a cease-fire.
what can we say that was the outcome of this war? some deaths and so much hate injected into Israil and Lebanon. It may has weaken HA but it has not destroyed it and they will use that HATE again to do which we don;t want to.

I believe in defence but this was has not been just defending. When Israeil was setting the aim of destorying HA they had t be mroe careful knowing what would be the consequences if they don't manage to sucees that.

As said in other posts, I have read so many Labenes blogs and most of them beleived that HA was becomin un-popular and their end was close. But this war has given them more chance to inforce them over people and make more threats for Israel and others on the world.

Thats why we are against the war. Maybe if there was some diplomatic talk and exchange of prisoners would let people to rally against HA as they did against Syrian army in Labnone.

Anyway, I guess it is too late for all these. Today mroe people are getting killed and both parties will change what they calim as conditions for a cease-fire. and thats a shame. cuz thats more politics than anything else

Zionism and American 'christian zionism' are the most deadly and perverse beliefs known to man because they both attribute their superiority and ability to carry out all manner of wickedness and evil behavior to a 'god' that is itself perverse.

IF they were children of the Creator then they would know how to reflect the truth and light that is found in HIM, but since they DO NOT and CANNOT it becomes clear whose children they REALLY are.

But then it doesn't take a genius to figure that one out, just someone that seeks the truth rather than to perpetuate lies.

There is still time to repent.

As long as Israel and the USA stand and survive as free countries that offer freedom and liberty to their citizens the two countries will be linked together abd hated by the world? Why? Because Israel and the USA prove the inadequacies of Islamic governments and of socialist governments. Either we must be destroyed are they eventually will be destroyed from within.

I agree with everything you said. There is no other country in the world that protects civilians of its enemy at the expense of its own lives and the lives of its own civilians, like Israel. But to the world it makes no difference. We will always be blamed as the source of all evil. It's just a part of our destiny. Logic makes no difference here. Besides, EU is the same EU from before WWII and appeasement is its policy. So it doesn't care who is on its side as long as its enemy is fighting someone else at the moment.

2 quotes come to mind:
1) V.I. Lenin: Capitalists will sell us the rope and the soap which we will use to hang them. (And this is what EU is doing with the Muslim terrorism)
2) Al Bundy's neighbor: In order to win the war, sometimes you have to burn a village. (And this is war against us, so it's our right to burn every village we need to burn, because if we don't we will be thrown in to the sea to the great delight of the world.)

What people have to understand is that Israel tries to only hit Hezbollah, but because Hezbollah hides in the middle of the civillians, people get hurt. If Israel were to stop, that would be bad for both Israel and Lebanon because Hezbollah would continue to hurt both countries. And so Israel and Lebanon should both try to get rid of Hezbollah so they can't attack anymore.

PS: anyone looking around with eyes open know that Hizbollah set up those people to die like that, they have before and they will continue because that is their way, they have to be called on it and a point has to be made of that too.

The UN observer email indicates Hizbollah using the UN posts the same way, he said Israel HAD to do what they did. This is the case.

Is it not strange how socialists always hate Jews? The NAZIS were socilists and killed millions, the Soviets, although not butchering millions hated and distrusted the Jews, and now our modern socialists encite hatred of the Jews by demonising Israel.

Why do socialists hate Jews so?

Could it be the fact that the Jews are the chosen people?

That socilists hating all religion especialy the Judeo-Christian type, perhaps funnel their hatred toward the source of all their bogeymen ie: morals, decency, propriety, monotheism, charity, humility as well as sexual continence.

In their campaign to athieise the world, hating the Jews is perhaps imperitive!

That said, I have no clue what the cause is, though for each example of Esav farsoneiung Yakov I encounter I can figure out a why.

Indeed, we should not see anti-Semitism under every rock - it detracts from our arguments and our nuance.
But you are right, it is remarkably easy to think that it is under every rock. And having lifted some of those rocks, I'm willing to argue that if there is no anti-Semitism under that rock at present, it was there not too long ago; the smells still lingers.

What I find baffling is this: one side regrets the death of every innocent bystander, both their own and on the other side. The other side hands out candy when innocent bystanders have been killed. So how can one not see a difference?

Only for one side is the death of innocents a cause for joy.

I am a screaming liberal. But I think many of my fellow travelers soft in the head and hypocritical.

For all of you who are wondering what the outcome of this war will be after the imminent cease-fire please refer back to how this war started. First Gilad Shalit was kidnapped down near gush-katif. Then two more soldiers were kidnapped up by Lebanon. Anyone who was paying attention would have reaalized Israels immediate reaction to both of these intolerable acts. Anyone who was watching most international news channels (I personally saw the reports on CNN, BBC, and SKY) would have seen the media make it seem as if Israel was attacking with no provocation. The media made it seem as if the constant rocket fire from gush-katif started only after Israel attacked. They even went as far as to imply that Israel brought the kidnapping on themselves. I ask now that you imagine this happening in any other world power. Tony Blair would cr*p his pants if a british soldier was kidnapped by a terrorist group. George Bush would go out on a full scale attack againt whomever was responsible. Israel has every right to help out in the fight againt the greater evil that is world terrorism. The fact that the world cant see that shows how right Jameel is about anti-semetism. No matter where you go in the world (unfortunately even here in Israel) you will find someone who is willing to give you a hard time just because you are a jew. The only thing you can do is remember that these people are our mortal enemy amalek. The best thing to do after you have been wronged by them is exactly what Israel is doing. Take it to them as hard as possible and dont let up until they are not moving. I personally am praying for the safety of all the Jews in Northern Israel and all of Klal Yisroel. I would also like to ask anyone who can to take some time out of your day and say some tehillim for these poor people who have to go through Jameel's Shabbat experience every day. Do an unneccasary mitzvah with kavanah for them. Give tzeddakah. And add to your prayers that by the time this is all said and done Chizballah with no longer be a threat to anyone.

Lefties seem to assume that whoever has the better army is the morally worse party, and whoever whines the most is the party that is being victimized. Both these considerations mean they don't like Israel. Plus of course the very fact that Israel is free and democratic bugs them to no end; socialists at heart want nothing else than be in power over other people.

FrumGirl said...

Anti-semitism is alive and well and pretty healthy... growing, too!

tafka PP said...

Do you know, I agree with "Kishnevi":

Yesterday I watched (on sky news) the impromptu rally that gathered in London following the Qana headlines- thousands of educated people (I can even vouch some of them) chanting slogans about Lebanon and Palestine (like that's the same issue!) alongside many other people who in a different context might stone them for being infidels.

There does seem to be a widespread predisposition to make Israel into the "overdog" (I think I just made up that word). And in view of the fact that the vitriol levelled towards us in indeed disproportionate, even I agree that it would be blind not to ascribe it to anti-semitism to some degree.

Perhaps your perception and support of 'israel' would change if you were told the truth instead of the propaganda.,7340,L-3278665,00.html
Please note that,"a senior IDF officer said that Israeli intelligence had significantly infiltrated Hizbullah". So if they have 'significantly infiltrated' would they not have an increased ability to remove any 'threat'? But an even graver question would be,"Having 'significantly infiltrated' whose intrests and objectives are they serving? Perhaps a pinch of Nordau's "catastrophic zionism"?

Or 'Hamas':

I know, I know you don't believe a word of it. Doesn't matter you will one day give account of the 'truth' that you have accepted and reflected and there is nothing I can do about that....except warn you about what you are choosing not to see.

I, too, have always wondered why the level of Israel-hatred around the world is so ridiculously high. I mean, people would rather side with TERRORISTS than with us. The only answer is the anti-Semitism that's so deeply ingrained in so many people. And since the Arabs are the enemy of the Jews (their choice, not ours), you have the whole "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" thing at work.

James said...

Before you categorize all opposition as 'anti-Semitism' perhaps you should study the writings of Herzl and Nordau. They were completely aware and understanding that zionism would create its own enemy. But instead of properly being identified as ANTI-ZIONISM it is erroneously called 'anti-Semitism'. Since MOST zionists are descendants from Eastern Europeans they are NOT Semitic except by adoption of the term.

The only hate that zionism suffers from is people that see it for what it is; a racist, apartheid, perverse form of Judaism. That is why those that perished in the 'holocaust' were the Orthodox Jews that opposed the creation of the zionist state and those that survived were the ones that supported it. Do you really think that that was a coincidence?

You can beleive that if you want to but that is not the way it is. You need to go back to history classes. NO DOUBT.

I have studied all of what is going on in the world today and from years before and after CHRIST.

James said...

Perhaps you are the one that need to study. Saying that you see you are blind. If you cannot 'see' the events that are taking place I must sadly tell you that your time was in vain.

I forgive you though because it is obvious you are trying to support something that you have been told is in line with the Creator. 1947 WAS NOT the fulfillment of the return. Go sell all that you have and follow HIM.

NOAM CHOMSKY: Yeah. Well, he's correct that hundreds of rockets have been fired, and naturally that has to be stopped. But he didn't mention, or maybe at least in this comment, that the rockets were fired after the heavy Israeli attacks against Lebanon, which killed -- well, latest reports, maybe 60 or so people and destroyed a lot of infrastructure. As always, things have precedence, and you have to decide which was the inciting event. In my view, the inciting event in the present case, events, are those that I mentioned -- the constant intense repression; plenty of abductions; plenty of atrocities in Gaza; the steady takeover of the West Bank, which, in effect, if it continues, is just the murder of a nation, the end of Palestine; the abduction on June 24 of the two Gaza civilians; and then the reaction to the abduction of Corporal Shalit. And there's a difference, incidentally, between abduction of civilians and abduction of soldiers. Even international humanitarian law makes that distinction.

AMY GOODMAN: Can you talk about what that distinction is?

NOAM CHOMSKY: If there's a conflict going on, aside physical war, not in a military conflict going on, abduction -- if soldiers are captured, they are to be treated humanely. But it is not a crime at the level of capture of civilians and bringing them across the border into your own country. That's a serious crime. And that's the one that's not reported. And, in fact, remember that -- I mean, I don’t have to tell you that there are constant attacks going on in Gaza, which is basically a prison, huge prison, under constant attack all the time: economic strangulation, military attack, assassinations, and so on. In comparison with that, abduction of a soldier, whatever one thinks about it, doesn't rank high in the scale of atrocities.

This the kind of things they are all caught up in. They are simply a coward. Nothing more, nothing less, but probably worse. :O(

What did you expose? I have nothing to hide unlike some people. I deleted the account because you filled up at least a couple pages of cut and paste zionist psychobabble, there is no reasoning with someone incapable of independant thought.

If you want to link a site how about this one:

It shows a group of zionist youth attacking a FEMALE human rights worker and stoning her. The zionist soldier stands by and refuses to lift a finger to help her. I would be shocked but considering the children and what their parents have taught them it doesn't. They are just like their parents, just like the zionists are just like their father. It would seem that somewhere along the line you would catch on. Do you think when the time comes that they will treat YOU any different? Keep supporting your 'friends' they are well versed in backstabbing, they have been doing it for centuries.

Can Jews object to at least the ideal of a truly multicultural state? Is the ideal of people living democratically, and in peace and harmony, not one that we all should strive for? Is opposition to it not 'racist' almost by definition? Is the idea of a Jewish state not in opposition to the West's most modern, enlightened , and forward-looking ideals?

I write 'racist' because that is the racist word used by those who purposely ignore, or perhaps are ignorant of, law and custom concerning membership in the Jewish people; even so, the thrust of the word is correct. Jews on the whole do not accept for Israel, even as an ideal, the vision of a perfect multi-cultural democracy. Even if the whole world became as ideal as Judt imagines it soon becoming, the Jews would continue making extraordinary efforts to remain a people apart, culturally dominant in a state of their very own. Their efforts flow from, and are in support of, that special status they claim as theirs alone. That status is not 'just' in the ordinary sense of the word, and cannot be justified by ordinary criteria. Justification must transcend ordinary criteria--as does that of being divinely chosen.

A substantial number of Jews ardently subscribe to the ideals put forward in Judt's paper--so much so that they would risk their lives following his solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict. These people cannot be simply dismissed as self-hating Jews. Indeed, they take special pride in the fact that these ideals are clearly stamped with Jewish morality, and feel that their stand expresses the very essence of their culture.

They are not anti-Semitic, but they are anti-Juditic. For along with their special pride, they are embarrassed and repelled by what they perceive as their tribe's archaic, outmoded, superstitious, arrogant, and 'racist', belief in its divine election. As a consequence, in their hearts there is no truly just or otherwise compelling reason--one which transcends considerations of amity, brotherly love, good-will to all, et cetera, or reverence for martyrs, past and present, let alone mere pride and sentiment--for their tribe to survive
