This past Friday, DovBear published a link to YeshivaWorld, which picked on a story of Teaneck's first "Frum" mayor.
In Teaneck New Jersey, the township’s youngest mayor and its first female African-American deputy mayor took the oath of office at the Township Council reorganization meeting. Elie Y. Katz and Lizette Parker were sworn into office late Saturday night at the municipal building.
Katz, who turns 32 this month, is also Teaneck’s first Orthodox Jewish mayor. He finished first out of 17 candidates in the May non-partisan election. The lifelong township resident captured 60 percent of the vote to win a third four-year term.
I'm a bit confused -- I got this picture 2 weeks ago, and thought that Eli Katz was running for a much more prestigious position.

Oh Jameel, Jameel, the shul cnayman is a far more prestigous job than mayor.

I am almost positive that one can hold the job of Candyman and mayor simultaneously.

too bad forshay isn't even in new jersey... that's a bit of commute for a teaneck mayor turned shul candyman.

(I thought that was a shul in Teaneck or it's surrounding towns...like Paramus, Fairlawn, Bergenfield, New Milford, etc.)
forshay is a community in rockland county, new york... in the area of monsey, spring valley, new hempstead, wesley hills, etc..., about 20-30 minutes or so north of teaneck via the palisades interstate parkway, w/o traffic. i guess eli has some friends up there or someone he knows photoshopped a sign! very cute!
What's even more surprising is that Teaneck Municipal elections are non-partisan and Eli Katz now appears to be a registered Republican.
That's not going to go over well in Teaneck.
