Nathan Hale, the American patriot will forever be remembered with those words as he went to his death by hanging.
The Islamic Jihad terror group has the distinction of being the first Palestinian terror group to launch a Suicide Bomber against Israel, Bus 405 in 1989. Killing 16 people.
An offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood (those guys who just took over Egypt), the Palestinian Islamic Jihad have been one of the most violent and deadly of the rainbow of terror groups that make up the Palestinians.
Why am I writing about this?
Because one of their leaders, Sheihk Khader Adnan is being held in Administrative Detention by the Israeli government. He has gone on a hunger strike demanding his release. He is currently on day 67, and if we're lucky, he'll reach 70 days and die.
This Islamic Jihad leader has gained followers all over the world demanding his release.
Just so you understand, Islamic Jihad is the Palestinian equivalent to Al Quida.

Khader Adnan, as an Islamic Jihad leader, has accountability for his association and leadership in that major terror organization.
Islamic Jihad said they will launch attacks on Israel if their terrorist Adnan dies from starvation.
We know the Israeli government will probably fold under the world's pressure, but one can still hold on to the faint hope that it won't, and Adnan can go the way of the Dodo, even if unfortunately it's quietly in a bed.

Time to implement the death penalty.
too late - he's already out: http://www.jpost.com/NationalNews/Article.aspx?id=258759
Yup. The Stupid Jews cut his sentence in half and he can collect social security and disability payments from Israel after his release.
Let him die would have made Israel look bad and that had to be averted at any cost.
Time to bring in the mandatory death penalty for terrorist mass murderers!
I guess you folks just didn't read the articles about this case.
The problem is that he did not have a trial and did not have any due process of law.
Even terrorists need to eventually be charged and tried.
If he had been Israeli he would have been charged and given due process.
No one is denying he is a terrorist, nor has anyone claimed he was. But without charging him and trying him he becomes a problem. He was actually released because it stopped any legal/supreme court investigation of the process of dealing with such suspects in the West Bank. His hunger strike merely brought the issue to the fore.
See today's NY Times for a more thorough explanation of this issue.
Just thought you might want to know...
"Time to bring in the mandatory death penalty for terrorist mass murderers!"
Is that with or without a trial? Because, as the previous comment explains, the real problem here is that he's never been charged or tried, let alone convicted.
Jameel and I and plenty of others are sane folks in an Israel with a screwed-up government!
Let the advocates of today's move explain to us how letting an Arab Nazi die is to going harm Israel.
Those f*ckin' imbeciles won't pay the price, if as a result of their decision, some Jewish child (G-d forbid) pays with his life!
I guess someone who wants to blow up Jews must have his human rights protected.... tell that to Jewish families who don't get to see their loved anymore but he can! In what universe is that just?
It just sucks!
It's called law. It's how western style democracies work. Believe it or not, in the long run , the rule of law, applied to everyone equally, protects your civil rights, though of course individual cases can feel wrong, as the law is imperfect.
I think our cousins are on to a new way to coerce concessions from Israel. I think the whole lot of 'em should fast for 66 days!Heh, heh...
"It's called law. It's how western style democracies work."
Not really. Ever since 9-11, "Indefinite Detention" has been an unofficial policy in the US to "deal with detention of persons the government suspects of involvement in terrorism". Until now, it's worked quite well. However, as of December 31, 2011 under Section 1021 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2012,ALL persons, including American Citizens can be held without trial indefinitely for committing a "belligerent act" against the U.S. - it's the Law.
So, before you head down to the next 'Occupy Wall Street' protest, don't forget to feed your cat and leave the key to your apartment with your neighbor, just in case for some reason you don't come home - for a few years.
