Israeli MK: Obama can go to hell

The Muqata strongly condemns the statements and dangerous rhetoric by an Israeli MK who said, "Obama can go to hell".

Statements made by the MK last night include:
"After the exposure of lies from the US, we must say frankly to Obama: You no longer scare us and you can go to hell."

Obama cannot be trusted. We knew his promises were lies. The time has come to spit in the face of the Americans.”

"...he is no longer wanted in the Middle East and that he can go to hell"

" should persuade the US to change its Middle East policies by any means necessary, including by use of economic pressure.”

While we at the Muqata don't always see eye to eye with President Obama on many issues, this is no way for an Israeli MK to talk about the president of the United States.

We sincerely thank President Obama and our friends in the United States for vetoing the UN resolution (even though it was conditional and not whole-hearted).

There are those that would expect such extremist comments from a graduate of the Right-Wing/Settler Bar Ilan University, as this MK is, but that doesn't excuse such invective language.

We hereby censure Israeli MK Ibrahim Sarsur of the Ra'am-Ta'al party and head of the Southern Branch of the Islamic Movement in Israel.

Shame on you.

Truly sick.

Why would an Israeli MK be upset at Obama for defending the Jewish state?

JoeSettler said...

Sheila: There are those that claim that we at the Muqata always attack Obama for his actions against Israel and never acknowledge when he finally does something right.

Well Obama finally did something right regarding Israel and we wanted to acknowledge that, as well as defend him against the embarrassing vile invective that came out of the mouth of a Knesset member for finally doing the right thing.

Sheila: This Israeli MK is a sick Kachnik who should be arrested for incitement.

Um, no. He's not a Kachnik at all. As the post clearly states, he is "MK Ibrahim Sarsur of the Ra'am-Ta'al party and head of the Southern Branch of the Islamic Movement in Israel".

I presume that you stand by your demand that he now "be arrested for for incitement", right?

Norman, it's about free speech. If Israel banned free speech of those you disagreed with on the Left, then it could conceivable ban the free speech of those on the Right who you do agree with, like Kahane.

What was the break down of the vote, and why did the UK vote for it? and what did the resolution truly say?

Is it common for 14 yes and 1 veto?

Silly Bear: Sorry, Meir Kahana was an MK, and now the rightwing (and this blog post) is trying to get an Arab MK kicked out of the Knesset, or is at least trying to censure his free speech.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

Free Speech rules! (for everyone, including Israeli Arab MKs)

Except for Kahane who was banned from the Knesset and not allowed to speak on Israeli radio.

We're not saying he's not allowed to say what he wants, but it certainly is also within our right to free speech to condemn his remarks.

If you read the article that provided the source of his various quotes, you'd find that this Israeli MK (who received a degree from what is considered a RW/Settler University) was complaining about Obama "defending Israel" and the succumbing to the pressure from the "Jews in Congress".

Now I don't know about you, but if a US Senator got up to complain about someone was defending the US, the country he is supposed to represent, you'd wonder where his allegiances really lie.

@ sheila

I love how right away u jump and say he is a kachnik. Dont u realize that if he was, he would have already been sanctioned?!? Arab MK's can say whatever they want, its only the ones who stand for true morals, like the Kahanites who get censored. Their abilities to speak, and rights as MK's taken away.

Sheila said...

Mo: You're exactly the reason why Kahane should have been sanctioned.

Besides, you can blather "Kahane Chai" all you want.

He's dead.

Anonymous said...

@ sheila.

Exactly! For agreeing with what u said, just pointing out that he is associated with the likes of your political beliefs, not mine, suddenly what im saying is horrible.

The reality on the ground shows to what a degree Kahane was and is right!

He may be dead, but there are thank G-d thousands of people who follow in his ways, and are actually willing to stand up for their country and fight for what is right unlike some others. People who actually love jews, and the jewish land. Heroes like Baruch Goldstien, may G-d avenge his blood.

So yes, Kahane Chai!

@ sheila,

One more thing. Kahane was sanctioned. Unlike these arabs MK's, the like of zoabi who went on the flotilla, and the other dude who was spying for hezbulla, who have free speech, and are able to do what they want.

You can clearly see the difference between the right who actually care about freedom, and the leftist who only care about advancing their prerogatives.

Joe, I think it's a bit irresponsible to say "Obama finally did something right regarding Israel." What exactly would that be, vetoing the Falacstinian resolution? When it is qualified by statements from the US ambassador that the US considers Jewish building in Judea and Samaria to be illegal, etc, essentially saying that the White House supports the sentiments of the resolution, but didn't see it as being diplomatically prudent to support it, while officials in Obama's own party are telling a tale that prominent Jewish supporters of that party threatened to cut off financial support if the resolution passed, this does nothing but support the racist meme that Jews control US foreign policy, and incites the Arabs even more.

Is this supposed to be one of those lesser of the two evils moments? If Obama had finally done something right regarding Israel as you contend then Ambassador Rice would have vetoed the resolution and kept her bigoted mouth shut. This maneuver in the end makes Israel look worse, being set up to look like the Jewish state, and the Jews, pull the strings in America, which is exactly how the Arabs are seeing this.

Obviously a veto is better than a yes vote. But did Obama finally get something right regarding Israel? Absolutely not.

Obama has done what he does best, hurt Israel while acting like he's just done her a favor. The MK's remarks are more ironic than anything else. Ultimately this action by the White House hurts Israel, the MK is either too stupid to see this, or is playing his part as written by those far above his pay grade, to take advantage of the play the White House is directing to once again vilify Israel and the Jewish people on the world stage.

Obama didn't do Israel any favors here, and wishful thinking does not make it so.

JoeSettler said...

Jameel and I discussed before hand how we would relate to the veto and the simultaneous anti-Israel rhetoric spewing out from the Obama administration.

We decided for the purposes of this post to only acknowledge the veto.

The trash talk coming out of Clinton and Obama is nothing new. But Obama actually using the veto, after he threatened he wouldn't, is something different.

It does raise an interesting question.

What would happen if the US said they are going to boycott the vote instead of vetoing it. Would all the other countries who voted for, still have the same way?

obama pissed off both the right and the left

to me, that means he is doing the right thing.

he also seriously ticked off the arabs...which makes him a saint.

You're totally off base. Obama did nothing right...I found this article on WSJ:

It seems to me that this is typical "get down and into the gutter" speech. The sad thing is that it is coming from an Israeli MK, which chips at the dignity of the office and the institution.

We have people like that in Congress here, too.

And the bad thing about it all is that it accomplishes nothing positive.

I have a hunch that if Obama had "boycotted" the vote in order to allow it to pass while prtending to be "pro-Israel" Britain would have vetoed it. Since they knew that the US would veto it, they could prtend to vote for it while knowing that it would not pass.
